@SporkFireXPS @Hey_Jay Interesting. Well, I can't speak for forums and reviews and such. Maybe most female gamers don't feel the need to put in that level of effort. I don't know. As for stores, I see just as many women as men. I brought this up to one of the other users -- perhaps it's just the community I live in.
@SporkFireXPS Ah, we've reached a critical point to address. Female gamers playing online. Of all the girl gamers I know, many play offline with friends.
@SporkFireXPS @Hey_Jay True, though the female gamers whom I refer to play the same shooters and whatnot that any of the guys I know do. That's why some of these comments surprised me a little.
@daviddiorio @Hey_Jay Actually, yes. Maybe it's just the community I live in, but that's pretty much the case. Don't get me wrong -- guys make up the vast majority, but I know enough legit girl gamers that this article didn't surprise me, at all, until I came to the comment section.
@ruisan101 It's possible, sure, but my reasoning is that most female gamers don't play as often or as thoroughly as guys do, so we don't see them nearly as much, which is why it appears as though they're this tiny demographic. Doesn't mean there can't be a whole bunch of them.
@hastati4 @Hey_Jay Sure, but how many of them are actually speaking up? Surely not all of them. I would even go so far as to suggest that many female gamers keep quiet, which I couldn't blame them for. I remember one time playing online with a girl gamer, and when she started talking for a bit, the other guys seemed to all plug in their headphones and suddenly swarm her with all this derogatory, heinous crap that was unbelievable. She got so upset that she just left.
I don't know what parts of the world some of you are living in, but I've met enough serious female gamers that this study sounded perfectly reasonable to me.
