Like i said in my previous post, its only a very small fraction of people on GameSpot that actually care about emblems, most don't.Caddy06_88

I'm not interested in more excuses for Gamespots laziness. The fact that some people don't care about emblems is not a legitimate reason for Gamespot to do something this stupid.

I just don't think you should complain this much. No matter what GameSpot do, there are always people unhappy with it, no matter what the changes are.
Caddy06_88

The entire point of this thread is to register our dissent with Gamespot for their lack of effort. You're the one who's complaining about this thread.

By all means though, keep repeating the same debunked arguments and help us keep this thread bumped.

What if they are working on something major to benefit the whole community? That would benefit more people than the select few that want a different emblem.
Caddy06_88

I would hope that even if Gamespot were working on the next manhattan project of videogame website design/content that changing the graphic on an emblem (especially when the work has already been done for them by one of their members) wouldn't disrupt that project and send their efforts for the future of the website into the bowels of hell. But maybe I'm just giving them too much credit. Perhaps they really CAN'T walk and chew gum at the same time.

More to the point, I find it incredibly ironic that some have suggested that the reason Gamespot can't respond to this one small issue, that they can't do such a simple task properly, that they lazily gave us a copy of an emblem that already existed rather than a unique 2006 one (again, when it had already been created for them), is because they're SO DAMN BUSY doing things that "actually matter". So, the defenders of Gamespots laziness confront the undeniable evidence of that laziness with an assumption and/or speculation that the laziness is excusable because they must be doing better, more important things.

Evidence of laziness vs Speculation that the reason they're being lazy is because they're busy not being lazy.

If you're willing to abandon all logic, than the latter position is clearly for you!

"Don't deserve the community?"

I'll tell you what Gamespot doesn't deserve. A community that whines and complains about the shape and size of a particular emblem. You act like you spent all day trying to choose who got your vote in the Reader's Choice awards, when in reality it probably only took you and every other Gamespot member ten minutes to finish voting. You voted, and for doing such you received an emblem. And what the heck does your comment on subscription fees have to do with anything? All of the members on Gamespot had the chance to vote.

So why don't you, and the rest of the people here stop complaining and just move on with your lives. It's the middle of February for goodness sakes. Let it go.
Dutch_Mix

You got it bub. Don't deserve the community.

Why don't YOU accept that this isn't just about an emblem, but an incredible lack of anything resembling effort on Gamespots part, and stop whining and complaining about legitimate dissent in the face of that laziness.

That's right, you quit the whining and complaining, since you and the other thread crappers are the only ones actually doing it.

Thank you kindly.

I'm sure there's some foreign city that you've never seen and never met anyone from that city. But why not believe in it? I mean, that's not really proven to you in that case. If you do believe sometimes, then try to more. It seems like faith is a good thing to have. Damn, I am so preachy.quiglythegreat

Cities are demonstrable and verifiable. If it exists you can go there and verify its existence.

Not the case with deities.

False argument.

Actually, both my parents are atheists and I believe in God so you're argument fails.
flclisfun

My argument had nothing to do with how you personally came to your "faith", so no, the argument doesnt fail.

You're the one who brought up how faith must be significant because people are willing to die for it. I just explained to you how that is false and how the holding of beliefs and willingness to sacrifice for them does not, in itself, substantiate them. People can, have, and will die for all kinds of foolishness, especially religion.

If you can't come up with a real counterpoint, your failure is complete.

Nobody dies for the Easter Bunny.flclisfun

You would if your parents indoctrinated you into a belief that the easter bunny was an omnipotent being and that after dying for him you would ascend to glory in a beautiful easter egg heaven.

The fact that religion has survived over the ages through massive brainwashing, indoctrination and cultural domination is no evidence of its credibility. Your argument fails.

Dude, are you serious? If you believe in Buddha your Buddhist, if you believe in God, you're one of many things, such as catholic, christain, or whatever. (I have no knowledge of religions so some of that may be wrong). Atheist is when you don't believe in ANY of it. You're not atheist to a certain group. You belive in something else, atheist is when you belive in NOT ANY of them. NONE!himtroy1

Hahaha... you took that a bit too literally I'm afraid.

I'm using a loose definition of "athiest" in this case or more precisely "non-believer".

Next time please examine the spirit of the argument before attacking the letter of the definition.  :)

Ultimately, everyone is an athiest whether they understand it or not.

If you're a Christian, you're an athiest where it concerns Zues and Hera.

If you're a Jew you're an athiest where it concerns Vishnu and Buddha.

If you're a Muslim you're an athiest where it concerns Odin and Freya.

Some of us.... are just willing to go one god further than mono-theists.

Reverend Haggard is the one who got coked up and hired gay prostitutes, not Kent Hovind.

Kent Hovind (the one in the video) is a fraud (he doesn't have a real doctorate), a liar, a propagandist and he was just convicted of tax evasion and is going to prison for a very long time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_Hovind

Religions (and faiths/superstitions/beliefs in general) are for people who are afraid to live their lives without BS answers to questions that haven't truly been answered yet. It has also been used as a management tool to control the masses over the ages and serves as a coping mechanism for people terrified of their own mortality.

Fear is the mind killer. You don't need faiths, superstitions or beliefs. Have the courage to leave them behind.

Anyone who would treat you that way or ditch you because someone else was treating you that way was never your friend to begin with.

There are aquaintances, friends of convenience and then true friends. You're going to go through a lot of the first type and second type only to realize later that they never really cared if you lived, died or developed a fungus in your crack. You won't make many of the third type until you're much older, and some people never do because they never realize the difference to begin with.
