Here is what i came up using pixmania.Uk. You can look Scan, Overclockers and Amazon.Uk and see if you can find any of the parts listed cheaper ( though i doubt it since those are quite cheap already )

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/11764446/art/intel/core-i5-ivy-bridge-3570k.html

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/11876582/art/msi/z77a-g43-1155-socket-z77.html

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/10165309/art/corsair/builder-series-cx430-v2-p.html

Alternatively you can use this power supply if you want more headroom ( though a good 430W will happily power up to a gtx 660/ 7870 )

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/10742153/art/ocz/ocz-zssers650-w80-psu.html

as for graphics card you can use either the 1gb sapphire 7850 or if you are gaming at 1080p or higher you can use the 2gb version ( there is a 20 pound difference )

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/12784835/art/sapphire-technology/radeon-hd-7850-dual-x-1-g.html

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/12701060/art/sapphire-technology/radeon-hd-7850-2-gb-gddr5.html

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/9050842/art/crucial/ram-memory-module-2-x-4-g.html

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/10628171/art/seagate/barracuda-3-5-internal-ha.html

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/11827844/art/antec/one-pc-tower-case.html

and one extra 120mm case fan

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/10801198/art/cooler-master/120-led-blue-r4-bcbr-12fb.html

all comes down to 564 pounds or 708 euros ( damn weekening euro exchange rates ) and that is for the 650W power supply and the 2gb 7850. You can save 40 pounds by getting the 1gb 7850 and the 430W power supply

I might buy the setup he suggested. Is it good?Is it quiet and is there anything extra?I am going to Change the case to a in win griffin

Is this everything? My friend told me about memory and stuff and im not sure if it is in any of the link i posted. I am thinking of getting a nvidia gtx 660 ti instead of radeon 7850

hd7870 is fifty dollars less(at least it is here in the states) and it benches better in most games & at higher resolutions than a 660ti

200 bucks is for 32gb of ddr3. My budget is 1k, was thinking of maximizing ram instead of cpu/gpu. Will play around with a better gpu with 8gb ram. Thanks for the help.decayorganic

Antec Gaming series One Illusion(still $40 @newegg, def recommend)

Intel Core i5 3570k

Sapphire HD7870 OC

Patriot Intel Extreme Masters Viper 3 Series 8gb 2133mhz

ASRock z77 Extreme 4 mobo

(2) WD caviar blue 1tb HDD

OCZ Vertex 4 128gb SSD

Raidmax Hybrid series 730w

Windows 7 64 bit

thats my slightly over 1k build, and i smashed that sweet spot! i dont need to touch a single piece of this hardware for at least two years! that setup of yours is crazy(200 dollar RAM!?) not saying u have to go with this, but what i got is a stupid fast computer that'll crush any game max settings @1080p/i

heres the new build i came up with, with some revisions - most notably an ivy bridge i5.

do all i5's overclock well, or just the k-series?

with all this, a few more case fans, a hyper 212 evo, and a few more sata cables, it comes to around $1100 US...so how did I do?

kraken2109

It's much easier if you state the parts as well so we don't have to open all the links. The K series have an unlocked multiplier, that's why they are far easier to overclock.

sorry

4.0ghz is the goal, can it be reached with a 3550, or would i need a 3570k?

[QUOTE="spittis"] Well overkill as in just unnecessary high wattage. It won't hurt as in do damage though it does negatively impact power consumption if you always have it working on say 40-50% load. Main problem with the one you picked though is that it's a Coolmax unit that doesn't even have any use reviews. The future proofing is also not a valid argument anymore unless you planned on adding more cards, since the power consumption is only going down.Lox_Cropek

thanks, helps quite a bit

now, while intel is obviously faster than amd, but are the speeds really that noticable with this kind of setup? I mean, i really wont know until I complete the build and fire it up for the first time.

is amd really that bad of a processor that everyone makes it out to be? reviews on newegg and amazon are highly favorable for both intel and amd fx series processors...It seems like either or is a win for myself.

also possibly looking at amd's hexacore fx-series, the 6200, what do you think about processors that use more than four cores?

Current AMD processors are not bad, but they're not great. If you compare them with Intel's, though, they're pretty disappointing.

in what ways?

i see price for performance leaning towards amd, due to the fact that a 2500k is still almost two hundred dollars, and its not really new anymore. i keep perusing tom's hardware and other places for benchmarks, and I really can't see which ones are reliable(some have Intel smashing Amd, others not so much)

[QUOTE="spittis"]Weak CPU, overkill PSU from a brand I wouldn't trust, unknown brand on the RAM too though I'm not saying that it's bad, can't find any professional review on the case either. Just all in all I would definitely not do that for a 1k dollar build.spittis

can you have overkill from a PSU? I was looking to get a pretty good amount of wattage so I wouldnt have to upgrade in the future.

230 dollar processor with a 200 dollar mobo? i really dont want to spend that much money, there is just no way to stay around a thousand dollars with that kind of setup

i dont see why amd gets no love. a quad core that clocks at 4.2 ghz? how is that bad at all? im not crazy tech savvy, but it seems like everyone hates amd for no good reason
