@JimmyFraska: Then why did Microsoft's site take forever to load, Wal-Mart say it was out of stock, Amazon not have the listing up, Best Buy not open pre-orders for 55 minutes, and Target take 20 minutes just to get to the "submit order" screen and another 5 minutes for the order to go through?

Is it completely optional to not have the game designed around making said microtransactions more enticing?

Didn't think so.

@maltnut: Anytime I've heard about a game having microtransactions, it was a game with buyable in-game currency. Someone like Jim Sterling mentions a game with MTX, then shows the NBA 2Kwhatever "Buy VC" screen. They all send the message "microtransactions = currency you can buy", then change that message because Randy Pitchford bad.

When they say "microtransactions", do they mean "in-game currency that can be purchased with real money" - the definition literally everyone used for years - or "cheap cosmetic DLC purchases" - the definition people only started using when Borderlands 3 was shown off?

You know micro-transactions are good and really bad. They have helped to keep game prices lower by creating alternate forms of profits. Game price have not really raised in 20 yrs. And just by the number above you can tell that some people really like this content, or at least desire it for some reason, and it can add value to a game if the content extends the hours played per its cost.

It certainly didn't keep NBA 2K21's next-gen price lower.

B-B-But I thought microtransaction money went to the developers! We're supposed to be supporting the people making the games!
