Lazy said- "I don't like this at all, though for sentimental reasons really. As others have said before me, there is something special about owning a copy of a game. I like the case, the instruction manual, and the disc itself. I can hold the game in my hands, leaf through the manual's pages without having to scroll down with my mouse, and so on. I know I sound like an old moron here, given STEAM and current gaming trends, but I smile when I look at my game collection. By comparison, I don't really go "cool" when I see my STEAM download list. Just doesn't do it for me. Yeah, this program would solve the problem of older consoles breaking (PS2 no good ten years from now? Whatever, play it online no problem), discs getting damaged, and theft (you stole my OnLive box? I'll buy a new one. Just some dollars down the drain instead of an irreplaceable collection and a pricey console or two). Expensive consoles might no longer be necessary, games might be cheaper (though STEAM still charges pretty close to store price for things that are just downloaded), and we'd all save a bunch of money... but I still would rather not have programs like OnLive. I don't trust relying on somebody else's systems thousands of miles away. I don't trust not having physical copies. I don't trust them, and this "technological breakthrough" depresses me. I know you'll hate me for saying this, but I selfishly hope it fails." I could not agree more.
