Dungeon Defenders is addictive. That's amazing they have GTA3 now. Stay away from the Doom remake, it's pretty bad, i mean literally unplayable as the sensitivity is through the roof and you can't be accurate at all thanks to the GUI thumbsticks...
It's still a shame they didn't release the game in DX11, and actually strive for the best graphics possible, they catered to the consoles too much imo. The computers out there have so much horsepower because the graphics cards keep coming out higher and higher end but theres nothing out there like Crysis 1 that you actually need the horsepower for, thats why it irritates me that they haven't gone all out on Crysis 2.
I don't think it should be the standard, but it is a very cool tech. The problem I forsee is the eye strain or fatigue over long gaming sessions. Even without glasses, and having a special screen over the TV glass panel, your eyes will still feel the difference. It's definitely cool, and I think there should always be an option for 2D.
@cramoisi Now I have nothing to post now lol. Really though, cramoisi said it perfectly, don't get me wrong I have MW2 on X360 because Live is the man, but I have to admit the color is far better on the PS3 in alot of those shots, I mean did you see the huge difference in color contrast in AC2, I mean the 360 version had grey blacks, and the PS3 has alot of inky blacks in Batman, don't get me wrong I'd like the sharp textures too. Also, like cramoisi said, we need comparisons of exclusives, honestly fella's, I'd love to see Killzone 2 compared to Gears, or even Uncharted 2, I mean seriously guys, those 2 games alone are the best looking and well polished game I have seen on a console, I literally thought I was on my PC playing Crysis or something lol. Good thread, sad to see PS3 has lost this round, maybe next time make it a fair fight and compare exclusives, (that wouldn't be fair I guess either lol). I'm sticking with my 9800 gx2 now that it runs great with the drivers I have, but I do wish it had 1024mb total usable instead of shared, but Crysis still runs better on my 9800 gx2 than on my 8800 gtx at least at 1920x1080 2x AA 8x AF on a 40" Sony Bravia XBR4 through HDMI 1000 Monster cable. Still want to know what and when the next nvidia card will be coming out to outshine the 4870 x2, or at least what the next name in the series will be. Also DX10.1 may be scrapped but I know ATI cards have support for 10.1, not that it matters as 11 is out next summer.
By the way, you can't say you have to see it side by side except for resolution but even that doesn't matter when you have it on your pc as your pc outputs a higher res image anyways. The main thing they are trying to show is what effects are in each game, how each system renders the image different, which can easily be seen, it doesn't matter if they are compressed or are not running side by side the simple fact is still seen in the pictures. The ps3 is lagging behind right now, and the 360 is not, I myself love my ps3 more, just because the system is overall better for someone like me who loves home theatre, and the ps3 is top of the line for bluray, one of the few things that make it better that it can update the firmware which modern bluray players still dont seem to do, I mean they just added DTS-HD Master Audio support as well as Dolby TrueHD, thats insane. Like Lex said, devs are having problems coding for the PS3, but once they put some time into it, it can be quite amazing just as seen in Killzone 2's latest demo, which is stil pre-alpha but blows away most PC games, which is quite a feat, and MGS4, but those are 2 games thats it. 360 has so many more games rendered much more beautifully. Just enjoy this generation of gaming on both systems.
MGS4 will be the first to truly show PS3's monster processing power, it is being custom built of course on the ps3 to use 6 of the 8 cores as the one is left for the OS and the other is unusable by programmers. It fills an entire BD not sure if its a 50gb but wouldn't actually be that suprised as its been in devolopement for 4 years + and it has uncompressed audio track and is said to run at 1080p 30fps. So far though the 360 has ps3 beat in graphics overall, but this year I think is ps3's time to shine, anyone who has not seen the gameplay of Killzone 2, will be shocked at what the PS3 can do with all that processing power, and damn good programming, it really is like that scene at the end of Doom the movie, it's quite insane, the effects are beyond amazing the feeling of the guns is astounding.
Don't forget some games are just better on controllers, like GTA type games as well as racing, I'm a pc gamer as well, I build machines for gaming, but some games are just better played on a controller, from my experience the pc controllers work like garbage and are hard to interface with pc games. FPS will always be better off on PC though do to the range of movement given with a mouse.
