This information may be recent but it wasn't JUST discovered this week. I saw these codes on tcrf.net (The Cutting Room Floor) last year while looking around at CANCELLED/ALPHA/BETA versions of games and decided to see what they had on MK. Never knew it existed. Then months later it was DISCOVERED 2 DAYS AGO!
@louixiii: The story is being played out like HE found it, that it was found in FEB 2016, and some are assuming he just found it by mashing buttons. When I saw the articles popping up I was like "This wasn't JUST found." because although I don't know exactly when it was found, I'd seen this information last year on (The Cutting Room Floor) tcrf.net which is a site with a lot of cool Cancelled/Alpha/Beta versions of games. It was probably late last year but it's been a couple months or more at least. So whoever the person is he's talking about that JUST FOUND it, isn't giving credit where credit is due. My understanding is that these codes were found by digging through the code of the game, not by drumming on BLOCK buttons hoping for a miracle.
@maxguevera: Johnny Cage being able to punch women in the crotch in MK9 and MKX is a great example of really pushing forward in the strive for equality. And groups didn't even have to fight to get it with #vagpunch. Maybe they just didn't know of the special treatment the dudes were getting.
-Slowly pull someone's intestines out through their own mouth and dozens of Fatalities that are a step up in their graphic presentation..... but no revealing clothing!!
-Punch someone so hard in the crotch that their testicles explode into spurts of blood ... but make sure no penis exists in the shot and that the breasts are hard as rocks! Depictions of human anatomy, internal organs, bones breaking, skulls shattering, brains, hearts ripped out are all good. But WOAH on those SPECIAL PLACES!!
Imagine a world where the great artists of the past who pushed music, film, gaming or anything else had this mindset. "There cannot be something that makes people think, 'this is not acceptable.'" and " we do not want something that might make someone uncomfortable." That's for politicians to say, news channels to write about, and scared outsiders to tweet about... but not artists. WEAK.
@immortality20: My area has satellite (which you can't game on) or 4G which is what I have now. But regardless of which, usually you're looking at 10-20 GB of download for the entire month for internet that's more expensive than near-limitless bandwidth in major cities. So while "Not a big deal" for many, and while "Quit your job, get a new house, and rearrange everything else in your life to find better internet" sounds like a great solution for updating VIDEOGAMES on DAY 1, it's not one I can commit to. But even if I had the means to do so, I find it to be a really tacky practice.
