what an awful marketing idea, people will probably just be like 'oh this game sucks I can only play 1 dude I don't even want to buy the others' as opposed to well implemented freemium titles like planetside 2 where you basically start out with a complete fully functional game and anything you buy is a sidegrade or a non game breaking add on.

Punished for releasing a broken game, great honesty. There should be automatic demerits for games with always online single player.

Well getting the lawyers involved was dumb, that just lends legitimacy to everything that was said here, they should have just laughed it off as a rumour like gaming companies usually do.
