Ive finished it by myself, but it is very time consuming.
Some tips?
1. Learn the enemy spawns and their setup; if you really want to draw a birds eye view and see if you can exploit any weaknesses.
2. Brutes are the last thing you should deal with, unless they are within melee range. Fire from grunts and jackals will kill you more often that brutes.
3. Weapon loadout- Always carry one long range weapon, and another weapon that suits the level layout (eg. Sniper for big levels, Shotgun or SMG for Close Quarters). Primary weapon should always be a battle rifle. If unavailable, a Carbine will do.
4. Strafe wide, and in circles. Plasma fire travels slow, so you can out manevour it.
5. Turn on the grunt party skull the explosion from the headshots sometimes kills enemies, and gives a judge on your accuracy.
6. Learn to throw plasma and spike grenades accurately when under pressure and heavy vehicle fire, it will help you in the long run.
7. Target priorites (in order you should kill your enemies) = Sniper Jackals, Vehicles, Grunts + Jackals, Brutes + Hunters, Chieftans.
8. Flood can easily overwhelm you at close range, elimante the ones with the better weapons first.
9. Always let your shields recharge.
10. Remember your equipment, regenerators and bubble shields are fantastic.
11. Keep at it! you can do it!

What if you throw the spikers at the Wraiths it ain't going to do much damage front on, you won't have a chance on the front view of the Wraith with the Plasma Turrent OWNING you every single time!! Thats why co-op is great to draw attention!
