@domiddian: Saying the Nazis were socialists is like saying North Korea is democratic just because it's called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The Nazi ideology was inherently based on capitalism within its own borders while trying (and failing miserably) to achieve autarky and railing against "international capitalism" and "Jewish bankers" (Hitler in a 1939 Reichstag speech: "…if the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevizing of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!"). He also blamed the Second International for Germany's failure in WW1 (an organization of socialist and labor parties).

The Nazis came to power because they exploited and vastly exaggerated the threat of communism in Germany, making the wealthy industrialists back them up because they feared communism. Indeed, Hitler said that the industrialists “have worked their way to the top by their own abilities, and this proof of their capacity – a capacity only displayed by a higher race – gives them the right to lead."

The few socialists that were in the Nazi party, the Strasserite wing, were purged even before Nazis assumed power and were definitely killed off when the Night of the Long Knives was over.

The only party to oppose Hitler becoming a dictator, unanimously, was the Social Democratic Party of Germany, with 94-strong members in the parliament. It was subsequently banned and continued to oppose him in exile (they're still around by the way).

The first thing Hitler after becoming a dictator was go after the trade unionists, anarchists, communists, socialists and pacifists. In 4 years, work related deaths doubled. Women weren't counted in the unemployment statistics and were practically forbidden from access to higher education. Men were given tough, physical jobs that paid little and workers were defrauded (look up the Volkswagen sham, no cars were shipped to anyone that paid for them) and striking was banned. The only trade union allowed was controlled by the Nazi government.

This US-centric fallacious argument that Nazis are somehow socialists originated on wingnut sites and sources in America.

Nazis are getting normalized and are trying to re-brand themselves in the US. As the white supremacist, neo-Nazi founder of the alt-right said: "Again, "neo-Nazis," in the sense of people who are stuck in the 1930s, are really a non-starter. We need new movements. Could you imagine leftists calling themselves 'Stalinists,' or embracing the iconography and uniforms of the Soviet Union? Historical reenactment is not a good politics."

"Moreover, in 1931, I had some reason to feel that Hitler was moving in a moderate direction. I did not realize that there were opportunistic reasons for this. Hitler was trying to appear respectable in order to seem qualified to enter the government. The party at that time was confining itself— as far as I can recall today— to denouncing what it called the excessive influence of the Jews upon various spheres of cultural and economic life. It was demanding that their participation in these various areas be reduced to a level consonant with their percentage of the population. Moreover, Hitler's alliance with the old-style nationalists of the Harzburg Front led me to think that a contradiction could be detected between his statements at public meetings and his political views. I regarded this contradiction as highly promising. In actuality Hitler only wanted to thrust his way to power by whatever means he could." - "Inside the Third Reich" by Albert Speer, Reich Minister of Armaments and War Production in Nazi Germany

@phili878: Here are some terms, ideas, plans, orders, speeches and real-life events for you to research and educate yourself:

"clean Wehrmacht myth"

"Barbarossa decree"

"Commissar order"

"Generalplan Ost"

"Holocaust"

“Vernichtungskrieg” (literally: annihilation warfare; practiced by Germany and its allies in both world wars against supposedly "racially-inferior" people)

"Herero and Namaqua genocide"

"Obersalzberg speech"

"no surrender orders for Stalingrad and Leningrad"

Should be enough off the top of my head.

@darthrevenx: No, the game was developed natively for the Xbox and was ported by Budcat Creations for the PS2, not Double Fine.

@ps3gamer1234: The PS2 port of that game is horrible. I can only imagine how emulation makes it worse.

@SaQu1B: "The 32-year-old's arrest today, however, does not pertain to price-gouging. From the Bloomberg report:

'Prosecutors in Brooklyn charged him with illegally taking stock from Retrophin Inc., a biotechnology firm he started in 2011, and using it to pay off debts from unrelated business dealings," the report says. "Federal prosecutors accused Shkreli of engaging in a complicated shell game after his defunct hedge fund, MSMB Capital Management, lost millions. He is alleged to have made secret payoffs and set up sham consulting arrangements.'"

Please learn how to read.
