Mordins death was inexcusable, arguably one of the best characters in the game, I loved the guy who did the voice work ~ the character was perfect, and now lost forever >.

Japanese developers are not just out of touch of what we, The west see as mainstream but also Japanese developers are almost bound to old traditional thinking and that means, the games have not really evolved. Even though, the Japanese are a tech-loving nation, at the same time they do not like change so the more things evolve, the more they want things to stay the same and that is true with video games in Japan. Nihongo wa bideogemu wo shinka seru hitsuyou ga arimasu.

PvP sucks anyway, it breaks games and breeds elitism or worse, hackers. I can name a hundred games where PvP has ruined it. Co-op/PvE is the way to go :3

I've been playing the beta since the earlier builds, whilst I do say that some of the earlier builds offered better 'gameplay', the current build does offer more variety and definitely will reduce the amount of cookie cutter builds. The earlier builds allowed for faster gameplay too, with the ability to salvage items in the field, and training your artisans with pages; both aspects have been changed, personally I enjoyed finding the pages instead of just paying gold to level your artisans, another small change was to the salvage system only accepting magical+ items, which to me was a pretty big change as most of the better gear (at least in beta) was crafted, and that change definitely impacted gameplay as it took much longer to gear up melee characters.

As I see it, used games also act as free advertising for the games companies, for instance person A buys the game at full price and finishes the game and trades in, person B buys the used game but let's say, has never purchased a game from that company before, and likes it - person B is much more likely to buy a full price game from that company in the future. If used sales become a thing of the past, it'll hurt the entire industry far worse, it'll most likely lead to stores like EBgames having to close down stores leading to massive job cuts, and that'll also hurt the economy in the long run. So yeah, very bad idea to block used games.

Jeese, give it a rest already ~ if it isn't 'piracy' hurting sales, it's 'used' games now. If systems started to block used copies of games, it'll make piracy even more common. Corporate greed is way out of control now.

This is why DRM doesn't work, unless they 'unlock' the game, you are essentially renting it. So when the servers go down, or they get shut down - the game you have so-called purchased becomes nothing more than a coaster. And it is very easy to blame the pirates, in fact it has never been about piracy, it is about sales and piracy has never hurt sales, it have been proven by many legitimate sources. People don't realize that DRM has been out far longer then people realize, just look at how old SecuRom is for instance, then came StarForce with almost virus like DRM and lets not forget that the original secuROM ver.1 predates torrents and that is what really started the whole piracy arguments, even though you still had piracy long...long before torrents ever existed.

EQ was king 15 years ago, these days it is anything but. Hardly anyone plays anymore, the grinding makes everything else out there look like easymode, F2P is more or less worthless now, it isn't really going to attract many with such limited options.

Actually, these changes could be good for the game. In the beta, I actually rarely went back to town...if at all. I just used the cauldron to salvage everything. Sure it might seem like a step backwards but overall, I think its for the best. Its not like you would have to go back to town every 5 minutes =P
