I have a 400W power supply, and my recently bought GeForce 6800 XT seems to kinda push it sometimes. Currently, my PC has 500MB of RAM, so I wanted to get an extra 1GB, but I'm not sure if this will push my power supply any further.

So...does more RAM demand a better power supply? Or does it have no influence at all?

Alright, I bidded on the 6800. The auction ends in less than an hour. I hope I don't get outbidded.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!!!

Wow, thanks for the quick replies!!! I just found out that that specific 6800 model is actually 64 bit instead of 128 (well, according to this). They're both AGP, also.

That doesn't change much in this particular case, right?

Right now, I have the option of getting one of these:

Should I get this one, or this one?

I know, neither of them are very good right now, but it's what I can get. The auction for the second one ends in a few hours, so I need an answer quickly. I know I should be asking this on the sticky thread, and I know this thread will be closed, but I really, really need some advice right now.

Which one is better? And how much is it better than the other?

Ok, one last question:

This one, or this one? Which one's better?

Sorry for bothering you guys with this for so long, but...you know, it's money, I wanna make sure I'm spending it the right way.

Thank you so much for all the help!

My goodness, this whole thing is much more complicated than I thought it would be.

As far as I've heard around here, ATI stuff isn't very reliable in terms of compatibility, but right now I'm not sure.

I found a X1300 XT for a great price around here, but it wasn't AGP. Right now, it's between the 7300 GT and the 6800. Which one should I get?

Unfortunately, I still haven't found any models available around here - just tons and tons of 6200. I'll have to import or order it from another city. And, of course, that just makes me even more angry at the guy who sold me this motherboard with no PCI-Express slots.

[QUOTE="FernandoDANTE"]

Hello everyone, I would like to buy a new Video Card for my PC. It has to be an AGP, so the best I could find around here was a GeForce 6200 (in abundance) and a GeForce 6800 (mail order). However, the latter is about 50 bucks more expensive than the former.

So, I'd like to know what's the big difference between the big difference between the 6200 and 6800 models?

Hey Bud.

OK, here's something I've learned, and trust me on this, you really don't want to spend less than $200 (about £100 in my UK currancy) on a graphics card, anything below that point is either obsolete hardware or totaly incapable of playing recent games, even older ones when the card came out, even at minimum settings.. I had to downgrade from my top-notch(at the time 2005) geforce 7800GTX and I now happen to have a PCI-Express GeForce 6200LE. Now this card is absolute CRAP, for playing anything, even The Sims, trust me, if this version is so useless, the AGP version will be god knows how bad. Like the other guy mentioned earlier, if the card's cheap, there's a good reason for it, the cheap junk's junk simple as that. Get a GeForce 7800GS this is AGP, and as far as I'm aware, it's the best performer you'll get, from Nvidia anyway, until 8 Series GPU'S appear. ATI does make some top bargains like the new 3850 and 3870 series, but just remember, don't go under 200 dollars, if you have to stretch your budget a bit, then I'd recommend you do it, as you'd be putting yourself under a false econemy by buyin anythiong less.

Right now, I'm playing old games on my PC (System Shock 2, Half-Life, Star Wars: Jedi Outcast, Freedom Fighters), since there's no new games for the PS2 anymore. This is the first time I have a PC that can actually run good games with a decent quality, so I'm slowly catching up on all the PC stuff that I missed out on throughout the years. However, I soon realized that some games that came out 4 years ago (like Star Wars: KOTOR) wouldn't run on my PC, meaning I needed a new video board.

I don't want any outrageous stuff. I just want to be able to play the great stuff that came out in the past 4 years or so (Half-Life 2, Civilization IV, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, KOTOR, etc.), even if I have to put the graphic settings on minimum for the more recent stuff. My budget is around 150 dollars, but I live in Brazil, so there's a ton of conversion rates and product availability that could greatly alter that value, so there's no point in making comparisons.

I took Kiwi's advice and had a look around YouGamers. The "Best Bang For The Buck" session lists the 7300 GT as a good option, and I think I can afford that one around here. For the stuff I wanna play, would you recommend it?
