U can just trade to a friend or leave it at the GTS in Jubilife all night and ask for a pokemon you would never get. then get it in the morning and have it able to get in your party.

Train your starter to Empoleon for now,

When you get to the bike trail, go underneath it all the way to the top and you'll find a cave. Go inside the cave and search around for a little shark looking pokemon named Gible. Raise him. You'll see why later.

As for a lightning type, go with Luxray if you want, but I'd search out a Magnemite if I was you. They gave him another evolution. You can find a Magnemite in the power plant. Get it to a Magneton, then take it to Mt. Coronet and level it up to get the evolution.

Go to Iron Island further into the game and get an egg from a guy down there. Hatch that egg and be friendly with it to get a Lucario.

Machamp and Golem are decent pokemon options if you can get somebody to trade with. If not, then don't bother with them.

Spiritomb is a tough pokemon to get unless you have access to the GTS. If not, find somebody with a copy of the game and go down with them to the underground about 35 times. then go back up and use the odd piece of rock on a pile of rocks near Solaceon (Spelling?) Town. He's Dark Ghost with no weaknesses.

Know those trees that you can put honey on? You have a chance to catch either a Munchlax or a Heracross from them. It's rare as hell, but worth it. Munchlax evolves into Snorlax, Heracross just kicks all bugs in the teeth.

Medicham can fill both a Psychic and a Fighters roll in your party if you raise one. He can also learn a physical psychic move that wrecks people. Keep him in mind and he can be a worthy asset.

With all of those things being said, prepare to see these pokemon whether you raise them or not, most of them appear with trainers and some with the elite four. Good luck.
