[QUOTE="MythManiac"]Here in the Philippines, system wars is largely one-sided for consoles.I am currently residing in the Philippines. Last gen, sadly i was an owner of the crap box known as the Game Cube. But they do sell games here, for example in SM Mega Mall (DataBlitz and Toy Kingdom and etc) The thing is like this, X360 is getting some support atm, but with the current price tag ($800-$900) for the US version, well people wont really buy it that much, albeit the Asian/Japanese version are $600 or tad bit less. Damn the stores here rip you of because the people who won them are greedy bas*****. I also saw a PS3 for about $1200 (20GB version) and no Wii. The PS2 dominated here (from the consoles) largely due to easy of pirating, since man the PS2 has so many fake games here, they go for say $3 a piece. There are also places (even in large malls) where they will modify them (PS2's) and well basically since the country is so poor (overall population and economically wise) that piracy is extremely rampant here. The PC tho wins over the PS2, largely due to Internet Cafe's. MMORPG's, Warcraft 3 DOTA mod, and CS are played a lot here. And yet again the PC wins because it is much cheaper when it comes to playing (console and game wise, since the people ajck console prices up, hell the GC is still $200 over here, and the PS2 is $300) and the games are over all cheaper (average original PC game, $30, average console game, $70, and that goes for PS2 and Xbox and GC, X360 games are 60-80, depending on how new they are and etc) Well kind of sucks to be a console gamer over here, and because of all the jacked up prices still have not got myself a X360, but the PC is so much more affordable. May i add that HDTV's go for 2x the US price at times, damn wtf? The stores make so much profit from ripping the customer of, guess the people here are trying to get the economy strengthened. LOL you bought a gamecube:lol:, Nobody is playing CS right now over there, All of them are playing Warcraft 3: DOTA(the mod) and crappy MMOs like Ran, VF etc. Yap HDTVs cost as the same as a Car. WTF? Ey men I saw Xbox 360s selling for $500(25,000 pesos) at SM megamal, ground floor it inlcudes 25 games(im not promoting this). The prices are so high because no ones buying them. When there is demand it will go lower in price.
Let's start off with the main winner, the PC. Counter-Strike is a phenomenon over here. Everywhere internet cafe you go, it's being played by at least one person, it's that popular. MMOs are also immensely popular, especially Ragnarok Online. World of Warcraft isn't popular here, but DoTa All-Stars is a phenomenon. It's shocking. Either way, the PC is the safest bet here.
The PS2 is the leader here at the moment for one reason. Piracy. The PS2 is so easy to get pirated software for. You can get games for a dollar each. People here are cheapskates, they refuse to pay anything above 5 dollars for a game, even if it is original. Silly.
The XBOX 360 is slowly getting support. The XBOX had support, albeit little, but still had some. People had a hard time getting used to the controller though, as we never got the S type over here. >.> We don't have XBOX Live here, so that may be a reason.
The Gamecube had absolutely NO SUPPORT WHATSOEVER. Sure, shops sold Cubes, but no games. How do you expect people to buy something you have no games for. Silly shops. The Wii has support over here, but only in the urban areas. Suburban areas, flat out none.
Hehe.
