For those of you who still remember Freelancer, know that it did not die. The game is still being kept alive by many mod creator's, some show a good amount of work while others show excellence and supperiority over what they believe the freelancer engine is still capeable of. In 2009, there we're many major freelancer mod's that were released and if you freelancer lovers are reading this, you would know that discovery mod was one of them. However 1 mod that everyone has been waiting for was delayed yet again for 1 main reason, it was STILL in production. This mod that was still in production is a cummunity driven mod which the creator listened to and kept on adding, changing and fixing everything to the mod.

In the past 4 years of work the mod has risen from not more than 500 mb to download to the current state of more than 2 gigabyte's big. ALLOT of changes were made to freelancer in this mod, allot of bugs from the original engine were fixed and new things such as systems, backgrounds, planets, species, storylines, ships and much much more were added. Whats more is the scale of Freelancer has gone much more bigger than it originally was intended for.

This great mod's name is Crossfire, and the creator's goes by the name of Swat OP-R8R. You can look up his amazing mod at www.swat-portal.com. You can also go directly to the forums and register to read up on the work at www.forum.swat-portal.com.

Whats more is I urge each and everyone of you freelancer lovers to go tohttp://www.moddb.com/mods/crossfire/#1039675and have a look at the amounts of work added since 2006. If you are impressed, support the mod by adding your vote to the moddb awards for crossfire.

It's true I am a fanboy of crossfire, but truely anyone in the right mind would look at this mod and support it for its amazing work. True everyone deserves credit but this mod is just jaw droppingly well done. You might even consider this mod as freelancer 2.

P.S. Among the few things that were adjusted was also the texture's. It has now gone to Hi'res textures. An entire changelog is given at swat forums.

Hope I gave some cool news to the community of Gamespot :)
