FFXIII for the 360 or PS3?

Honestly now, I'm kind of at a stump here. I own both consoles, but find myself leaning to the 360 version of the game for 4 main reasons:

1. Controller Preference
2. Achievements > Trophies
3. Live interface - able to chat with friends while still playing the game

4. Game installs for making slightly faster loading times

The whole idea of the 360 getting 3 discs does not bother me at all mind you, and I read from IGN that the game runs just as smooth as the PS3 version. I know the PS3 is the lead platform, but does it really matter if the game is going to run just as smooth on the 360? Only thing I heard of the 360 version is that some of the things don't look as "crisp" but honestly would it even be noticeable? So now, tell me your opinion honestly which one to get?

The Rise of a Publisher?

THQ has never really been known for anything other than wrestling games. However, THQ received some new management and it seems to be on the right track. Their first step was Saints Row . A great way into the single player market with a GTA clone that actually managed to be very good, and was also the first "sandbox" title out for the next gen consoles at the time which greatly helped it's sells and publicity. All while maintaining their successful wrestling games (which mind you I personally have no interest in) they continue with a sequel to Saint's Row with Saints Row 2and even better was their sleeper hit Red Faction: Guerrilla , which was surprisingly a steller game with some sweet new tech powering it. They also snagged the rights to the UFC and released the well made UFC 2009 Undisputed .Now here we are with their next title; Darksiders . A new IP from a new development house. This game once again proved that THQ is picking and choosing the correct games to publish. Now earlier today I had watched a trailer for a new game called: METRO 2033 . When the trailer began, I see another new development housing behind this title and then here comes THQ's label as the publisher. If you haven't seen the trailer, I'd suggest checking it out as it looks to be pretty interesting. I also got wind that THQ closed the developer behind Stuntman: Ignition as well as Sandblast Games who made the underwhelming new Destroy All Humans plus they are cutting back the development house behind the Juice games to focus the efforts elsewhere. Smart move asthe threefranchises turned out to be less than steller and time wasters. Anyways, this is just from what I have noticed so I felt I needed to spread the word.

My GOTY + One Apocalyptic Horse Ride

Demon's Souls

So I finally came to the conclusion that my GOTY for '09 is Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls was the one game that I enjoyed the most and is also the one game that seemed to manage to keep me addicted to it as if it was cocaine. Innovation was also key to this game's extremely well thought out gameplay along with some extremely memorable boss fights. Though the game did support punishing difficulty, it was nowhere near impossible and served as a reminder as to how easy games have gotten over the years. For veteran gamers like myself, who grew up around and have been through some of the most difficult games ever made; you will feel right at home with this title. Check out my review for this masterpiece down below.

So I picked up Darksiders and let me tell you that this game truly surprised me. When I read the reviews they stated that this game is a mixture of of God of War and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Anyone who hears that and knows just how good those games are would definately give a second look just as I did. After hearing that I thought how well this game would manage to pull them off, and it actually pulls them off very well and the comparisons are actually quite noticeable yet the game still manages to be its own. I also love the game's plot and atmosphere. Definately check it out. Reason I bought this over Bayonetta was for one main reason. Sega and Platinum Game's last game; Madworld was a great game yet it plummeted in price extremely fast. I've noticed that a lot of Japanese developed games drop in price very fast over here in the U.S. so I'm sure I'll be able to pick up Bayonetta for $30 or $40 in no time. It'll also give me time to get sick of this game, COD, and Assassin's Creed 2. Did I mention Darksiders has a shiny case? Anyways, thanks for reading and I'll see you all soon.

GOTY Canidates

Hello one and all. I have returned briefly to break down my GOTY choices. Of course, only one shall be the victor but choosing one is such a difficult task. With this list, you may have seen that I did not give up gaming. However, I did take a drastic cut back in it. So anyways, all games mentioned are games that I feel are worthy GOTY and all of them I have played.

Modern Warfare 2

Follow up to Call of Duty 4. This game blends beautiful graphics with some of the most intense FPS action ever created and is the best multiplayer game out there. The campaign may be a short one, but with as many crazy set pieces it supports, it does not dissapoint. If you do not know what MW2 is, then I suggest climbing out of the rock you have been living under.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Not only does this get a nod for being a good Batman game but it is also the best superhero game ever made. Even without all that, the gameplay mechanics were so well done and addictive and it made me play through it 3 times.

Left 4 Dead 2

More Left 4 Dead is never a bad thing, and L4D2 is more of what we grew to love plus a whole lot more. Everyone feared that this game was rushed but they all shut their mouths once they played the game. The game improves upon the first in everyway possible.

Demon's Souls

Sleeper hit of the year hands down. I had no interest in this game yet once I played it I immediately felt a fatal attraction to it. This game is one of the most challenging games out there, yet in return it offers you an extremely addictive gameplay with some of the most innovative online out there.

Assassin's Creed 2

Assassin's Creed 2 basically took everything that was wrong with the first game and turned it completely 180. This game improves upon the first in a great way and offers you plenty of great gameplay and some of the most beautifully executed assasinations out there.

Uncharted 2

Uncharted 2 completely blew away the market with it's photo realistic graphics, addicting gameplay and some of the most "blockbuster" storyline ever seen in a video game. If games and movies were to literally have a child, Uncharted 2 would be it.

Borderlands was also another Sleeper Hit. A lot of people began to get skeptical on the game a few months back but once it released it showed us that FPS and RPGs could actually live in peace and meld together almost perfectly. Borderlands blends all the best bits of FPS with all the bits of leveling up and upgrading from RPGs.

Dragon Age

Bioware continues to not dissapoint. Dragon Age is one massive game with a large story to tell. This game may not be the prettiest but it's return to form gameplay that plays very much like KOTOR and Baldur's Gate shows that Bioware can still pull it off.

Forza Motorsport 3

I have never nominated a racing game for GOTY before. However, after playing Forza 3 I just feel I need to with this one. By far the best racing game ever made; Forza 3 offers you a ridicules amount of cars, tracks, and customizable options. Never once did I ever feel this in depth in a racer and never have I been so addicted. Forza 3 officially made the Forza franchise the king of racing simluation.

Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil took a large turn in the franchise with RE4. RE5 only improves upon it and basically perfects what made 4 so good in the first place. Add in the addition of full campaign co-op and you got yourself another GOTY canidate.

So long, farewell

So, I have officially decided to take a break from Gamespot and gaming as a whole. I have a lot of things in life I need to focus on that are so much more important, like my future wife and family. Kind of a bad time to give gaming a break with games like COD: MW2 and Assassin's Creed 2 coming out but it's something that must be done. I may still be picking up Modern Warfare 2 but we'll see. As far Gamespot goes, I'll only be on here once ina great while to check a review or just to catch up on the latest but I'm basically taking off. So anyways, please don't delete me in case I do come back, which I'm sure I would. But as of now, I will be gone for an unknown amount of time. So, everyone take care and wish you all the best of the luck. Bye guys.

Demon's Souls Review and Sony's new box art look.

Uncharted 2

Now this picture doesn't fully show what I'm talking about. But Uncharted 2 is the first game to show off the new look and the new look on the PS3 boxes are somewhat....different. They actually went back to the old look of the PS2 but updated it a little bit. Honestly, I can't say I'm a fan, but that might just be because I'm not used to it. I do however like the way they did it on the back in which it states and fully shows what the game features (trophies, resolution, etc.). It always did before, but now it details it better and looks nicer.

Also, I did a review on one of my favorite games of all time: Demon's Souls. This is my first review in 5 months, which is wierd because I used to pump out so many reviews I once got the top 500 reviewers badge. But back then, my reviews were, shall we say.....LAME. Anyways, check it out. And if you do like it, please recommend it. It would be greatly appreciated.

Sleeper hit of the year....Demon's Souls

Demon's Souls

Originally I had not planned to buy this game. I kept hearing how diificult it was and honestly, it never really captured my attention except for the fact that is published by Atlus. However, thanks to my buddy at Gamestop who began rambling on about this game I became more and more interested in it to the point where I then pre-ordered and bought the Deluxe Edition of the game. And as of right now, I am not regretting it at all. The reviews say it all with their high ratings of 9's but honestly I never saw this game coming so strong. The game is an action RPG that feels similiar to Oblivion in some aspects but completely different than what is out there. The game features amazing 4 player co-op and when you die (which will happen a lot), you can go into other player's worlds and try to assassinate them to take their souls and reclaim your body back. The game is constantly connected to online so you will see ghosts of other plays in the same area as you. You also spot bloodstains on the ground which when examined shows you how a player died here. Theres so many aspects to this game that make it simply awesome that I can't really put it into a blog. Maybe I'll write a review sometime down the road. So anyways, for all of you PS3 owners who are hardcore gamers, buy this game, and buy it soon because I keep hearing that its already becoming more and more difficult to find when it literally just released yesterday. But be weary, only hardcore gamers should play this game. The punishing difficulty will turn off a lot of people, especially more casual gamers.

Yesterday I saw this movie and went in with good expectations considering I saw Entertainment Weekly gave it a B+, which is basically an A- when rated by them since they're pretty harsh reviewers. I can now tell you that this movie exceeded my expectations and is literally the best Zombie movie I have ever seen. I've seen them all; Shaun of The Dead, Dawn of The Dead, 28 Days later, 28 weeks later, you name it. Now, prior to this movie releasing, Shaun of The Dead was the best zombie movie I ever saw since it took the zombie genre into a new direction and actually added humor to it. Now Zombieland releases, and takes that idea a step further. Now, I know there will be many who argue that Shaun of the Dead is better, but there will also be many who argue that Zombieland is better. In my book, Zombieland is better because it is hilarious throughout the entire movie (Shaun of the Dead got a little serious later on in the movie)while maintaining the brutal violent zombie action. Also, the way they dispose of the zombies is like no other. Seriously, killing a zombie with a banjo? Genious. All I can say is do yourself a favor and see this awesome, awesome movie. This movie is now added to the top best movies of '09 for me.

Rating: A

District 9. Not one to be overlooked.

District 9

A lot of people are extremely skeptical of this movie, and who can blame them really? This is this director's very first full length movie, and the trailers don't really show what it's about. Well let me tell you this, District 9 is by far the best movie of the year and one of the best movies ever made.

This movie is 100% original, which is a huge relief nowadays. The story is completely compelling, CG animation looks beautiful and completely realistic, and this movie is made with a bunch of unknown actors who do an AMAZING job and are completely believeable. Do yourself a favor and see this movie immediately because this should be missed by no one. Also, if you did not know already, this is from the director who was supposed to make the Halo movie. Since being turned down, him and Jackson produced this masterpiece.
