This is like comparing the Toyota Yaris and the Honda Fit. I think I'll stick with my PC for multiplatform games thanks.

I own a PC, PS3 and a Wii. I can honestly say that I use my PC exponentially more than the ps3 or wii. I grew up on PC games and probably will be playing them until the day I die. I really don't mind spending $300 once every 3 years on a nice graphics card. I can attribute the rest of my upgrade costs to the many other uses for the PC that I employ (home theatre, P2P file sharing, word proc etc.). I almost regret getting the PS3 as that was $500 I could have spent on a blue ray burner and a maybe a new core i7.

While I played this game on PC, I don't think the comparison is an accurate demonstration of the inherent differences of each console. I can't say what sort of shader they used on the PS3 port but, it is indeed lacking there as the shadow effects on 3D objects seem almost nonexistent. I know that XBox360 and windows both utilize microsoft's proprietary directX API whereas the PS3 uses a modified openGL. I can see this as a major hurdle in the porting process. That coupled with all the bugs on every system Fallout 3 was released on gives me the impression that a lot of corners were cut in development. Which is sad because the game was self released by bethsoft. My conclusion is that the PS3 version had the potential to be as good as the xbox360, but laziness and cost cutting caused it to suffer.

I don't own either console, but I would have to say, overall, that the xbox360 comes out on top here. Still, I'm more inclined to purchase a ps3 as my next console if only for the blu-ray player. I do believe that the xbox360 has more entertainment value per dollar which I am seriously considering as well. I am under the impression though that in development these titles were initially developed for the 360 and simultaneously ported to the ps3. The greater install base is reason enough in my opinion, but I have heard that the ps3 is a little unruly to program for. With this logic, I am led to believe that the ps3 is not being utilized to its full potential with these games. There are little signs with the screenshots shown here that point to a greater degree of graphic realism as opposed to graphic flash. I'm not saying either is better, but if a game is designed with flash in mind as opposed to realism its always going to look better on a console that was designed for that purpose.
