@turianshepard: Yes, really. The D-pad is improved. The 360 D-pad is probably the worst of any controller. Even the original XBox controller's D-pad was better.

Overall, I would recommend the Logitech F710 over either. Better layout, less expensive than the XBox One controller, and the wireless dongle isn't gigantic.

Why's it so insanely huge? Logitech's wireless controllers have nano adapters.

@Alurit: Thanks for the advice, but I'll think I'll be all set with a Steam Link and a Raspberry Pi 2. We'll see. I'm getting a Pi for sure.
