I like America, they help keep Canada safe so us Canadians can do important things like play hockey and drink beer and tell each other that we're superior to Americans.

McDonald's has good coffee, much better than the burnt swill they sell at Tim Hortons.

@DrKillByDeath84: Canadian banks were fine during the recession. Any and all problems we faced were due to trade with America. How could we have faced financial collapse when we had no inherent problems?

The NDP and Liberal parties wanted to spend more money than the CPC did during the recession, which in part helped trigger the 2008 election because they could not find common ground for the stimulus package. The banks were fine, but the potential for runaway government spending was a problem.

Well, duh. Harper still sucks.

LOL No.... he is the best Prime Minister since William Lyon Mackenzie King, if Taliban Jack or one of those Liberal clowns had been in power during the recession Canada would be like Greece or Spain right now.

@farrell2k: It seems that you suffer from Hoplophobia, you should seek help for that.

Considering that the U.S. is the most gun violent country in the modern world, your assumption does not apply, but what is clear is that the people who are so irrationally paranoid of the world around them that they need to be armed 24/7 to feel safe clearly suffer from Paranoid Personality Disorder, exhibiting common symptoms like assuming that other people will exploit, harm, or deceive them if they are not armed, even if no evidence exists to support this expectation. The "jack booted thugs" are hiding around every corner, the "criminals"are always out to get them. They're always suspicious of the "gubment", despite they fact that they elect them "gubment" themselves. They're constantly suspicious of others and always on watch for the "bad guys". It's classic Paranoid Personality Disorder, a serious mental disease.

It gets even worse when you confront a gun nut about it too. They exhibit more classic symptoms of it such as perceiving those who question the needs for guns as an attack on their character or reputation, always quick to react angrily or to counterattack in a personal manner, like claiming that you are in fact the one who suffers from an illness, when in fact it is they, considering that your position is based on evidence and logic, while their is based on emotion and irrational paranoid of the world around them.

My assumption does apply, you have an irrational fear of guns. You feel that because they frighten you nobody should have access to them. Bringing up the fact that all gun nuts are paranoid is just a way for you to project the superiority you feel you have over them because you think guns are of no use to a civilized society. It's also hilarious that you say a gun nuts position is based on emotion when in fact your position is the one based on emotion, the fear that you have for guns. Your post reeks of recycled garbage that the anti-gun crowd has been spewing for years, all in an effort to stir up the emotions of the general public that has really no interest in the topic until people like you start screaming about assault weapons and the like in an effort to get the undecided people to believe your nonsense.

Nope. Not afraid of guns. Guns are good and necessary. I have a real concern regarding people with them, based on real evidence, namely that we are the most gun violent 1st world country in the world. My "fear", as you incorrectly label it is backed up by rational examination of the evidence.

And what evidence is that? I'd like to see it, I'll leave this here.
