@Cataclysmic0001: Well it'd be hard, potentially disastrous, and cost a HELL of a lot of money. I can see why Bethesda is holding into it for as long as they can.
On another note if the modular nature and modability of the engine were able to be replicated in a better engine I think another dev team would have come up with something by now. But as it stands Bethesda games are the most easily modded games out there. I even made a mod for Fallout 3 years ago and I have ZERO programming experience. I made a "door to nowhere" next to the entrance to Megaton. It was just a door standing on its own. When you went in it took you to a mini vault. Inside was every skill book, every unique weapon, plus a weapon that I myself modded. It was a standard sniper rifle but I messed with the way it operated. I made it almost entirely silent mechanics wise and gave it the shot sound from the silenced 10mm. Best weapon for a stealth character EVER in Fallout 3.
@veldi: It's called Gamebryo/Creation Engine for a reason. The engine is quite possibly the only reason the modding community is able to thrive as well as it does because the engine is incredibly modular. Wouldn't be surprised if a move to a brand new engine hurt or even got rid of the modding potential.
@bobafetthatesu: I snagged one a couple months ago. If I look on Ebay on day two and they're going for $300+ then hell yeah I'll sell it. Otherwise I keep it to mess with on occasion and maybe further down the road make some money on it. I mean at the very least the cosplayers will want them. Last time a professionally produced pipboy was made it was just a clock mounted in a fake Fallout 3 pipboy. People bought them for around $800, gutted the clock, and installed an LCD screen. These new pipboys only need a phone and "boom", working pipboy.
@Richardthe3rd: So much this. Valve was at the front of FPS tech with HL2. The physics engine was nice. The gunplay was nice. It did things story wise that were new. Now? Valve took too long. Open world shooter? Already done. Open world shooter/rpg hybrid? Done. Story focused shooter? Done MUCH better than HL2. Graphics showcase shooter? Meet Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3.
Until Valve comes up with something good to make HL3 stand apart from the masses of FPS games that exist today, they won't make the game.
@xzerocarnagex: I can't imagine trying to coordinate a bunch of randoms in Kings Fall. Especially at the Golgoroth fight and after. It's why there's no raid matchmaking.
As for the microtransactions? Why do you care so long as they don't give players a gameplay advantage? It's emotes. Possibly shaders and ships later. If you don't like it, don't buy into it.
@xbr85: You named literally the ONLY instance of them putting out overpriced DLC and it was their first time doing DLC. They didn't have any experience then as to how much to charge and small DLC itself was a fairly new concept. Prior to that it was all expansion packs, which Beth already knew how to price.
