I hope you realize you have a typo in your review?

"Here you discover the other three other arks have gone missing and that the Nexus, which arrived ahead of the arks, has suffered every setback imaginable, from growing food shortages to a veritable civil war."

Other three other arks? Excuse me?

Things weren't this bad when you guys started off. I really don't know why I keep coming back to gamespot.

"Dan Starkey's been playing Age of Empires almost since its inception"

Oh wait, he started from AOK, then later on (maybe) tried AOE. He will never understand how much of a breakthrough game AOE was back in its days. The other RTS games present in the market at that time came nowhere close to AOE in terms of narratives, unit path-finding and variety in strategies and depth. I fondly remember earning my first victory against an AI opponent in a random map game.

With all that said and done, AOE definitive edition cannot, and should not be compared with any other modern era RTS game, e.g. especially the likes of Starcraft 2.

AOE is not an adrenaline pumping game; one just doesn't commit to a 20 or 30 minute session of AOE.

I haven't yet played the definitive edition, but if they simply managed to update the original game for modern machines, it'd garner an instant 8 score from me.

What about Age of Empires 4?

I am glad there's gonna be a revival of Arena games and RTS games on PC. PC is still the best platform for playing these games for me. I still hate the concept of gamepads with FPS, though I have mostly converted to console gaming for the last 5 years or so.

@Gelugon_baat: Don't get me wrong, the whole paid content and DLC game has little positivity in it.

But I am simply trying to differentiate SF V from other, similar games by pointing out the fact that theoretically everything can be earned for free in SF (things that matter, anyway), even if it takes a lot of time.

@Gelugon_baat: Well, such is the era. A lot of games don't even give people the option to get DLC/paid content without dolling out extra dough. None of the Tekken 7 DLC characters are farmable, nor is the case with WWE or any other, similar game.

@GreySeven: Game gives you enough characters to start off without paying anything. Series staples like Ryu, Ken and Bison are all free, so why you are so sore? Also, you can unlock anything and everything by playing.

Ashes 2009 was a great cricket game, and 7 isn't that bad of a review score for a cricket game which are infamous for being abysmal.

I might actually get this over Don Bradman.

Been a member of Gamespot for 14 years now, and I must say, never found the site so annoying and unfulfilling. Videos start auto playing in every page I visit, and they never start with the content--there's always a lengthy ad, and the same ad keeps playing. Page loading is slow even on a high speed connection, and there are annoying and intrusive flash based menus in every page!

No wonder this is a shitty review. Even reading wikipedia gives more insight than this piece of crap.

I am sure this game was going to be a single player joy with 20-30 hours gameplay, but no, they need games that players can play for a "long time", which means it will either become a crappy MMORPG or have multiplayer content that will require micro transactions and such.

I can't recall when was the last time I played a really, really good game coming out under the banner of EA.

I am bored with Fifa games. Haven't missed a single title since starting to play the game back in 1998. They need to change stuff, the Journey mode just isn't good enough, and the "neither here, nor there" approach with making the game feel more realistic is also a big let down.
