The parts of this that are actual facts were interesting to read but the ranting about the U.S. and trying to defend "Aussies" was really irritating. It sort of ruined the article.

I think the "girls in gaming" thing is extremely annoying. I have played video games with girls since NES. When I was six and hated doing castles I forced my older cousin or my mom to do them for me. When I was a kid i played N64 with my little cousin who was also a female. Since I became a teenager I have been gaming with girlfriends and friends girlfriends. Now I simply play with friends and my wife. Girls are not stupid (in general) They know how to chose whether they want to play a game or not. They do not stare at the case and go "this game looks stupid... OH! it says it is good for girls. Nevermind, i will get it." Who cares. If you play games, you play games. The only difference between gender is that females are more likely to play as a team and not have an ego problem, and males are more likely to be descriminating and rude.
