@stationplay_4: Kinect itself isn't the problem. The problem is that MS focused on integrating Kinect with every console instead of concentrating on the hardware inside the console. Sony decided that they needed the most bang for the buck under the hood and made Move an optional extra. As a result PS4 is cheaper but significantly more powerful. Last gen PS3 & X360 were neck and neck in power.

Xbone may have a slight CPU advantage but the PS4 has a significantly more powerful GPU. Video games are more GPU dependent so overall the PS4 is the more powerful gaming machine.

PS4 is $100 cheaper, PS4 is widely known to be more powerful and PS4 has had much better press coverage. MS concentrated on Kinect over hardware power, forgetting of course that early adopters care little for Kinect and prefer hardware specs and I don't think Xbox one recovered from PR disaster over DRM.

@BattleSpectre: assuming PS4 and Xbone are neck and neck in NA & Europe (which they aren't) the PS4 will always have Japan to fall back on. Xbox has always failed miserably there.

@Lucianu: totally agree, Age of Mythology and Rise of Nations are awesome games. Can't wait to get them on steam.

@coasterguy65: I don't want to buy 2005 era tech in 2014. Kinda a waste of money and I don't have the space for a X360, PS4, Wii U AND PS3 under my tv.

@BattleSpectre: when Halo comes out I may get Xbox one but I'm not sure. Xbox will need more exclusive games to tempt me after all it's a lot of money just for 1 game.

Ok so I'm an old fashioned Lemming, bought my original Xbox in 2003 and swore against the PS2 even though most of my friends had one. I loved Xbox, halo, DOA PGR and the rest. I believed Sony was arrogant and the PS2 underpowered and I preferred the Xbox line up of games. In January 2006 I bought the Xbox 360 and loved the machine I've lost count how many games I've bought for it in the last 8 years heck I've bought 3 x360 consoles! I avoided the PS3, I didn't think it was worth the price and most of the games could be had on x360 plus xbox live has always had an edge. But now I've gone over to the dark side. I've become the very thing I thought I never would... A playstation owner. I just bought a PS4 and a copy of BF4. Technologically it is more powerful than Xbox One, it is cheaper and apparently Sony have improved the online.

Have I made the right decision? I do not know yet, only time will tell.

But what I will say is this, if Sony have managed to persuade a lemming like me to switch sides then it's going to be a very one sided console war.

I'm sorry Microsoft, but you forgot what made the Xbox and; Xbox 360 such great machines - powerful hardware at affordable prices. The Xbox one is less powerful and less affordable than it should be.

The big issue these days is that current graphics cards consume a lot more power and generate a lot more heat than 2005 era graphics cards. Modern cards are a lot bigger and require much more cooling. Consoles are a balancing act and energy efficiency/ heat output is a big concern for Sony/MS, they don't have the luxury of huge towers with massive fans and giant PSU. They want small(ish) and sleek systems which results in compromises

@Ginosaji: IRC the first console game to feature a downloadable patch was Unreal Championship back in 2002 on Xbox.
