What a fiasco. I guarantee you that I would not choose a multiplat title on the WiiU over the PS3 or 360 versions. Why? Because the "tablet" controller for the WiiU is ridiculous. I want a real controller. If I want to play a tablet, I'll just play something on my IPad2.
No doubt the WiiU will sell like hotcakes & Nintendo will have the go-ahead to continue printing money, but I'm not getting fooled again. The Wii was a piece of crap with 95% third party shovelware & I see nothing about the WiiU that gets me even slightly excited.
The 3DS on the other hand is a rocking handheld & I'm glad for the Monster Hunter announcement.
The Vita is such an awesome piece of tech to be sure, but there is a serious lack of games for the system. Sony really needs to start pumping out the titles already. With Persona 4 & Silent Hill in the very near future, things are looking up for the Vita but we need some ORIGINAL titles, not just spinoffs or ports of PS3 releases.
You're definitely going to see some things that you haven't seen in other RPG's before. I love it when you set an enemy on fire & they'll run around slamming into walls or fall off a ledge & die. I especially love it when you set an enemy ablaze & they fall on the floor & roll around trying to put the fire out. Awesome!
Also love when one of your teammates puts an enemy into a half nelson so that you can beat the smack out of them.
90% of the time my pawns do exactly what I want them to do, (simple commands like Attack, Follow Me & Help make all the difference), and I love that they will tell me how to complete quests or show me hidden chests if it's a quest they've already participated in in someone else's game.
It may not always be perfect, and it's the kind of game where you're always learning things the hard way, (ie-getting your ass handed to you by a group of enemies that you're not tough enough to fight yet), but it's brilliant & you will constantly have moments where you say "I've never seen that before in a game". Love it!!!
What's up with all this talk about people selling their Vita's? What a fickle bunch. The PSP sucked out of the gate & everyone pretty much knew what games were coming down the pike when they bought their Vita's. I'm sure we're going to see something sweet at E3 & just the thought of having a Monster Hunter game where I can control the camera with a stick is enough to make me happy, even if there are only 3 must-own titles right now.
Taken in the context of a dual-stick FPS on a portable, it's a decent game. It controls well, although I don't like having to tap enemies to tag them or drag where I want my grenade to go on the screen, (yeah, you can just tap the nade buutton to throw it where your reticle is, but it's wildly innacurate this way).
The graphics are decent, but we already know the Vita can do much better than this.
Taken in the context of the previous Resistance games, it's pretty much crap. The story, characters & enemy AI are pretty limp in comparison.
What we have here is a case of 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Personally, I like Unit 13 better but that doesn't mean that I'm not getting any enjoyment out of Burning Skies.
