Most Disappointing Games Ever

Yep , it is my opinion .

Here is list of games that disappointed me and a lot of other gamers due to several reasons . Waiting for these games was not worth it .

Rank Game Release Date GameSpot Score Cloud_imperium's Score

Deus Ex: Invisible War

One of the biggest reasons why PC only gamers hate consoles . Original Deus Ex was one of the greatest PC games of all time . With second Deus Ex game players were disappointed due to its controller centric gameplay , Terrible UI and Horrible inventory system .

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

Like most of UBISOFT games , we were promised a cutting edge experience during reveal of the game . What we got was a crappy third person shooter that looked like shit compared to E3 2010 demo and had no tactical gameplay of original First Person Ghost Recon games .

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction

Crysis 2

When first Crysis came out , it made every other FPS look outdated in terms of everything . The game featured , huge open world levels , non linear gameplay and revolutionary graphics . We expected improvement over first game in sequel . Instead what we got was linear corridor shooter with scripted events and set pieces , targeted for casual audience . Overall still pretty solid game but the beginning of the end .

Syndicate (2012)

They changed the entire genre of the game for COD audience . i don't think anything more insulting can be said .

Max Payne 3

Thanks to Rockstar and their console fanbase , this is one of the biggest disappointments EVER . I've played original game so many times , it used to be so special to me . When I played the sequel of original game back in 2003 , it blew my mind and I ended up playing that game over 16 times . The best thing about those games was Sam Lakes' iconic writing . After 9 years of wait (waited each and everyday) Max Payne 3 was finally released . What a surprise ; The game delayed for PC . First two games had always released as PC exclusive titles , that were later ported to consoles . What we got here was a VIP treatment from Rockstar as always (sarcasm) . The gameplay , character movement was all designed for controller . You can't pick up more than 3 weapons . WHAT !? . You HAVE to watch 10+ minutes of cutscene after every few minutes . BRILLIANT . And like any other typical Rockstar game , what we got here was a mediocre storyline , where Max Payne is now just a bodyguard of rich people , who don't give a damn about him and he is on mission to save boss' girl/wife . REALLY .??? I mean Really .? This was supposed to be Max Payne right .? Where are nightmare missions .? Where is that dark feel in the storyline .? Later You find yourself fighting for greater good and saving some random poor bastards and watching some naked women in clubs (You know typical cheap ass Rockstar Games' kinda stuff) . I won't forgive Rockstar for this . Luckily AI was good in this game , PC version had some good graphical features and nice options too . Performance was pretty good . Oh and there is multiplayer too , because that was something that Max Payne game really needed . Facepalm . Flashback missions were best part of the game . . . Max Payne 3 in a nutshell : Linear GTA with Bullet Time .

Diablo III

It wasn't the biggest disappointment because it was still a very good game but implementation of Auction House and boring loot built around that, to force people to buy unique items with real money was really disappointing. Luckily, the game has changed a lot since release and right now, it's excellent.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

Like most of UBISOFT games , we were promised a cutting edge experience during reveal of the game . What we got was a crappy third person shooter that looked like shit compared to E3 2010 demo and had no tactical gameplay of original First Person Ghost Recon games .

Total War: Rome II

Single Biggest disappointment of 2013 . While overall it is a good game after latest Caesar in Gaul expansion , the game's launch was absolutely terrible . Creative Assembly (or should I say SEGA) blew it . They f**ked up the launch of most requested Total War to date . What could've been a serious contender for GOTY was ended up being a mess . The game was unplayable and had a lot of bugs on launch . Then there are few bad design choices here are there as well . However , I still have high hopes for upcoming games from these guys , since they've been creating great games for over a decade and after each disappointment , they always came back stronger than ever .

Thief

Yet , another game dumbed down for casual audience , playing COD on their consoles . After years of wait , what real fans got was not what they deserved . Every franchise have loyal fans and they should always be main priority , not new comers .
