I'm betting DirectX 12 is an extremely lightweight API that's for ARM and x86.

Valve is the best developer of all generations, even those before their establishment. Hail Gaben!
It's actually eqivalent to 900p but the horizontal version. 720p is literally 1/4 the pixels of 1080p and 900p is half the pixels of 1080p. Doing a horizontal halfing while keeping the vertical the same is still 50% lower resolution. Bu bu bu ps4 only does native 1080p!
720p is 921,600 pixels and 1080p is 2,073,600. Last I checked 921,600/2,073,600 does not equate to 1/4. Literally or not.
"HD"
Not really. 720p is far from HD and the texture's are pretty poor.
480 is SD
720 and above is HD
All this "under 1080 is not HD" is just elitist hyperbole that I'm frankly tired of.
The texture argument you could objectively make a case for.
No it's not. It's not elitist hyperbole. 1080p has been the standard for high definition for a better part of a decade now. You had some early transitional bullshit with marketing departments trying to convince people that 480p, 720i, and 720p were "HD" to sell their cheaper TVs that weren't 1080p, but that's all it was. The industry has firmly moved to 1920x1080 being the defacto standard of HD.
Your opinion cannot change that. It's not a subjective argument. It's what has happened. There will never be an official definition of HD either so we go by the trends and the trends clearly show that 1080p has become the standard HD resolution.
I'm sure that each standard 16:9 resolution has a specific name:
720p = HD on TV
768p = HD on monitors (there are some TV's that hold this standard)
900p = HD+
1080p = FHD
1440p = QHD
2160p = UHD or 4K
yeah exactly this. 1080p is the technical term, FHD (Full HD, Full High Definition) is a marketing term, used interchangeably with 1080P.
i am ok with calling 1280x720 and above 'HD'. however i would never call a resolution below 1920x1080 'full hd'. for example, the order 1886 at 1920x800. it's not full hd.
some common resolutions just for fun http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f0/Vector_Video_Standards4.svg
Should sticky this since there are so many threads full of misconceptions about video resolution.
Microsoft and Sony need to quickly upgrade their consoles or this will be the shortest generation of all time. Embarrassing.
ASUS, EVGA, and MSI all make amazing GTX 760s. They are great cards for the price.
Wait for Haswell-E at least.
I built a rig in one less than a week ago and love it. Tons of room for cable management.
I firmly believe RPGs like Dragon Age and Skyrim are superior to JRPGs. I like a good JRPG from time to time just like a good side-scrolling platformer or western movie or grunge rock album. Some things just become less favored to their newer evolutions, there are still plenty of JRPGs however, so they are far from obsolete.
