If you buy a Wii U, and get enjoyment out of it, but it still doesn't succeed in the eyes of the masses, would you still consider it a "failure"? Or would you consider it a success because you have the games that you pick up and play whenever you wanted?

I can tell you, it's going to "fail" in terms of going against $ony/Micro$oft. This is made evident by every video that comes out that explains how the Wii U is already failing.

I really don't think Nintendo is in competition with them. I think Nintendo's only competition is their last iteration. I've never seen them "sell out" or try to acquire games that just wouldn't make sense on their system. Their only real compeition is their last spot- and they are getting better each time. You just have to decide for yourself if that is enough, and not let these media assholes tell you which one you should be enjoying.

Real life experience- "Tomb Raider" reboot. I got it day one, loved it (as did an isht ton of other people). It's own developer said it was a "failure". At that point, we're letting corporations tell us what we should deem successful and what we shouldn't. I have an inkling that maybe if they didn't see TReboot as a failure, we might have actually gotten some good DLC out of it. Or even SRIII. It did good, but not as good as they wanted. "Enter the Dominatrix" was pushed from being an "April Fool's DLC" to a "full-fledged" game. And people believe this.

"Head Start" to "No Child Left Behind". Someone's losing fucking grounds here.

"Call me crazy, but I believe that this is the point when other business interests began to see the potential of videogames as more than a hobby for children. Controversy sells, everyone likes a good fight, and a good fight can generate a lot of money for someone. In this respect, the “console wars” became the best thing to ever happen to gaming, but not for us gamers."

Someone posted this below, but it really deserves to be seen by everybody- casual gamer and "fanboy" alike.

"The console wars? Total bull. 100% total unadulterated bovine excrement. If the console wars were so important and so big for investors this holiday season, why was it not brought up between four people at that moment on TV? Wouldn’t this be worth noting? Perhaps not, if the only thing that matters is the almighty dollar. Which it is. It’s business to them, but that business interest can make even more money if you, the gamer, are being made to feel like you have to pick a side (lest all be lost!). “They” have found their pot of gold, and your hobby is no longer made for fun. No, you are a part of them making money. It’s just a question of wringing out the greatest possible sum."

Pretty much.

I agree- it's a bit too soon. And that's my problem with this video, and comments just like it. It's too soon to call it a "failure", but if that's all you ever call it when you reference it, than that is how it will be known amongst the groupthink- as a failure.

It's not brainwashing, but it is brainconditioning. I'm not saying $ony or Micro$oft paid for it, I'm just saying that it will become common knowledge the more people you have, on either side, calling a spade a spade.

Failure is in the eye of the beholder. And believe me, $ony/Micro$oft fanboys seem to know much about failure- I'm guessing the failure starts with their parents.

A $ony fanboy had the nerve to tell me PC stood for "Ported to Computer". I just shook my head. Some people really, honestly believe this. My favorite thing is how people talk about how much better their console is than PC... when they're accessing the forums to do this on- ON PC! Tell me, where's the sense in that?

I agree, if I were to purchase a "last-gen" console (last-gen compared to my PC), it'd be Wii U. Like you, not because I'm a fanboy, but because I can get the good $ony/Micro games on PC.

And, no, I DON'T WANT THE LAST OF US. Never have, never will. It's a good game- if it's one of the only games you can play on $ony. Thankfully I'm not bound down like that.

Nor would either $ony or Micro$oft be able to PROPERLY distribute it. If Mario/Zelda were to EVER make their way to those consoles, we'd be talking Day 1 DLC and patches to fix bugs and sheit (and the masses would eat that shit up because, let's be honest, they're fucking idiots).

That sheit don't happen with Nintendo games on Nintendo systems.

More games and less "creditable" people calling it a failure. If enough people that get views everyday calls something a failure, even before it really ever had a chance, than the groupthink (droves of fanboys) will always refer to it as a failure. It's assassinated before it even had a chance. Sure, it sounds like brainwashing, but it's more "brainconditioning" than washing.

Moral of the story- don't believe everything you hear, even if it sounds good to your position/persona.

@seyanhyriu

I have to agree with you. Groupthink and whatnot. It cracks me up the FPS are so popular, yet there is still such a need for Soldiers in the REAL WAR going on overseas. Maybe if they drafted all the people that buy these mindless CoD/Battlefield rehashes every other month, we can FINE-UH-LY get some actual GAMES back into our video games.

I knew the gaming community was over when I heard someone refer to "CoD: Zombies" as the most innovative zombie game ever made. I must have facepalmed myself into an aneurism that day.

^I think you're the exact "core audience" Nintendo is looking for. They don't want your "undying allegiance" to the system- they just want to make some good games that you can play after you've already played all the other bullshit. Just good quality gaming. It's like Nintendo is the only company that remembers "Hey, gaming is supposed to be fun- not a big life decision". I'm just saying, Nintendo games don't need DLC's, patches to fix bugs, microtransactions, or a slew of other nonsense that has greatly ruined the gaming community (let's be real, gaming isn't even a community anymore).

It's nice to see someone finally gets it, without sounding like a "fanboy".

People (especially us Americans) be bullshittin'.

P.S.- No likes on your comment? Probably because you were talking too much sense that the idiots on here couldn't keep up.
