im at sequence 8 or 9 and as far as i see its far from as in depth as it was in 3. you can upgrade a few things for your self and your ship other than that you can buy buildings in your hideout for small bonuses like a brothel makes it free to hire "dancers". and you can send out fleets you capture to trade misc items you collect during your pirate raids, but you have to keep the paths clear using a sort of battle mini game. other than that it doesnt look like there is to much control over your area so to speak.
Havana is an H on the map and you wont see the H if your in the city you have to travel to other citys to unlock them just do a couple of story missions and it will point you in the right direction
if your still wondering since the desmond backstory ended in ac3 this one stands on its own so you can play it without missing out on too much.
@Mortoseth: we have allready been in rome in ac brotherhood and there have been 2 games in italy so japan would make more sense. If you go hacking in to you co workers pc at (not gonna spoil) "office" there is a conversation between to poeple and they mention a couple of places like egypt, japan and france during napoleonic wars where the game could be headed.
i would recommend ac4 since i heard that origins was disapointing. And since they ended the desmond stoeyline you would have no problem with understanding the games story.
quicksaving from mobile and reloading usually activates the missions that you have to wait a certain amount of time for, so you might wanna try that. Also if you want to make money at the end of all of those annoying missions look up epsilon guide...i got screwed there....atleast i got the trophy lol.
This is the first Grand Theft Auto I have played that I got done and I thought..."That's it?" I avoided the story missions as much as possible and messed around, but, once I started it seemed like it was over too quick.
Maybe I missed a bunch of stuff? Seems like a really huge world with a lot of empty space. If I didn't drive every where I would have gotten done really fast.
Maybe I am just getting old....lol
Playing the story missions is how you unlock the side activity's so of course if you avoid them you'll just have an empty map
