@daidochus: Not like that matters in any way now.
@SAGETISMYSAVIOR: This. The only thing they notified the public about, was that wall running got removed, NOTHING else.
@esqueejy: "The point is that if you never allow people to apologize"
As said, there would be nothing wrong with an apology if they had been transparent, HONEST and not a month late, after they've already been caught. And if they wouldn't force a false narrative in said apology that makes them look slightly better and the consumer slightly worse. I said I'd accept it, but you went on a irrational rant without even reading my comment properly it seem and said that I wouldn't. Okay.
But this is simply not an apology; it's your average corpo bullsh*t PR talk we've heard a thousand times. The type that even the released game itself condemns and demonizes, or makes fun of, which is incredibly ironic.
@Barighm: Wha? I think Larian's style works perfectly for BG. Old BG games and D&D in general also doesn't take itself too seriously at least half of the time. It fits really well at first glance at least, and an early access version is really no indicator of anything. Let's wait till the game's done.
Oh man, and I thought I'm crazy for wanting a true full fledged deep RPG in the SW universe from Larian! Glad I'm not alone. Though I wouldn't really want a KotOR remake from them... But a completely new game instead, so they'd have much more freedom.
Yeah, right... We can only wish... It's never gonna happen. I just hope some better and lesser known AAA devs or even AA ones will get the chance. That would already be a highlight.
@drr00: I knew what it would be before even opening the link, lol.
@esqueejy: He said they didn't know how the console version played and that they didn't experience any of the issues during testing that players have. Who would be gullible enough to believe that? You literally just had to boot up the game to see that something's seriously wrong with the last gen versions. The devs must have been SCREAMING at them that the game runs terrible and to not release that pile of sh*t. Yet they didn't care. They wanted those holiday sales at all costs.
This hostage video apology would be less of a laughing stock if he just simply admitted that they fell to greed, gambled with their consumer's trust and that's that. Now that would be something new and actually honest... And something where you can actually star building new trust on, even if it'll take it's time. Not this laughable generic PR talk that came more than a month later, when they already been caught and are getting sued and investigated from all angles.
I think it would be better to just shut up and fix and expand the game... Releasing an apology video, that's filled with more obvious lies and attempts to distract from the other problems that aren't bugs and affect all platforms, is not the right step to take.
If you do such a video, though, you have to be COMPLETELY honest and transparent and say something that not every other CEO that f*cked up says. Literally noone blamed the actual workers, for example.
This video is trying to reinforce a narrative where the PC version is near perfect and that all the "BAD people" are taking it out on actual devs, when there's only a TINY minority of them that do so.
