Honestly, that just sounds like pure game glitches you have little or no control over. There is the remote possibility that the enemy was too close to you during pursuit where the door closing animation triggered a calculation for the game to decide which side of the door he landed on. It would be nice, however, if the enemy is chasing within a small distance that your character, the enemy, and the door enter into a small struggle animation determined by the mouse-wiggle quicktime event. If you win then the door is shut and he has to stop and open it, but if he does then your character is knocked back/on the ground. Something like that anyways. Either way, I doubt you'll see a fix for that unless the devs hear enough about it and patch something in.

Well, just to throw a few suggestions out there: Make sure your graphics drivers are fully up to date with the latest, non-beta driver. Make sure the resolution and aspect ratio in the game's settings matches your monitor's. Try turning off V-Sync and any anti-aliasing options in the game menu's as well. From a 'Run' menu on your machine run 'dxdiag' and make sure you're on DirectX version 9 or later. Test the game after trying each of these things. They are all common culprits for black and/or flickering game screens. It is also good that you have found the 32bit patch as the game is best at home on 64bit systems it seems. I would also recommend looking at the minimum system requirements for the game and making sure the rig meets them. I couldn't tell if you were describing 1GB of memory as the onboard video RAM for the graphics card or if that was actual system memory. The game does require 2GB as a min for the system memory.

I'll have to check this out when I get off work. I'm making sure I stay ahead in the plot line of the LetPlayers out there streaming it, but I am enjoying immensely knowing when they are coming up on something they aren't ready for. It is a wonderful way to vicariously experience the thrills over again in excellent horror games like this.

I am only a few hours into the game but I can see why it received a 'graphic sexual content' notice. To address your concerns directly, but without spoiling plot information, you character stumbles across at least one act of necrophilia and there are several fully nude males you see inside the asylum. The former mentioned could classify as violent but not in the sense that I think you are worried about. That situation is extremely brief, and if you aren't paying close attention you may not even see it. To my knowledge and experience thus far, there are no females in the game thankfully eliminating most of those scenarios. I hope this answers your question. That being said, I do hope you purchase the game as, for one that is trying for that super-terrifying label, it enormously succeeds. So please, strap on the headphones, cut the lights, and get your scream on. :)
