P4G is definitely a reason to buy a Vita, but not just solely for that game. Check out some upcoming releases, if you like RPGs/JRPGs their are some great ones coming out in the future for the system.
I think the game has aged rather well I still play it from time to time and have a blast. The only problem I have (this being with most N64 games) is the controller. Just never really liked the design of it and always felt awkward in my hands. The Hori controller for the N64 is apparently a lot better if your're wiling to shell out the $$$.
