That's crap and you know it

The cover is the MAIN way a game gets noticed on the shelves. That's why they put the games facing front in the stores on shelves that vary in height so each cover gets as much visibility as it can. Otherwise stores would stock the games sideways with only the titles showing on the spines. That would allow more room for the games to be on the sales floor.

Most people are drawn to box art. The box draws them in and then they read the back of the box. You're under the false assumption that everyone researches games before they buy them? Even at a gaming site like this people don't research games, hence the "WUT GAMES DO I GHET?" threads we see every hour.

This cover is crap and does nothing to draw a user in.

Also this isn't the main character in the game. It's a poorly drawn representation of a character who is supposed to be the main character in the game. It a bad picture.

Like I said before, this had better be a placeholder until the real art shows up.

Brown and gray are the colors of the new millennium, gotta love the 45.000.000.000.000 games which use the same friggin' tones of brown and gray. Instead Platinum Games tried something new in concept and style, now they're just going on with the style they chose by making the cover like that. You seem to use a kind of backward logic, a cover completely black & white is gonna be the one which will get the most attention from people, because it will be the weirdest one in the bunch.

Besides one thing is to say the cover is not that good, on the other hand you just seem to spit poison at it just for fun, using words such as "garbage artist", "the art itself is crap". I'm sure you can make a much better artistic work, right?

Finally if they wanted to sell games to casuals and nothing more, they would make a compilation of mini games with Sonic with a cool colored cover, not a game about a Manhunt-like reality show where the graphics are in manga/comic flavour.

Of course they wanna make money, but they're trying to do it with style. Mad props to them.

this is what im trying to explain on my recent post

krayziecupid

Yes, it does in fact look kinda empty, but I really dig the comic/manga and minimalist style.

[QUOTE="krayziecupid"]The review looks biased because obviously they reviewed the game without thinking of MGS4, GTA4, Halo3, Dead Space, etc. because they judge it based only on the Wii Library. me, im still waiting for the IGN UK review. even though i keep on hearing positive reviews, still i cant play the game... how sadkrayziecupid

What have those games in common with Disaster? Or with each other for what matters...

I don't see why they should compare it with 4 games that are completely different genres on completely different platforms.

Besides it would be like comparing a NES game with a N64 game in terms of graphics (if that's what you're talking about). One must take into consderation the hardware capabilities while reviewing a game.

Then why do some great Wii games scored lower on gamespot, IGN and other non official Nintendo reviews? because they are judging it based on the Generation of consoles. Sad but true, an example, on gamespot have you seen the force unleashed review on different consoles? most of the HD games have great score because of the Graphics(try to read again the synopsis of each game review on the PS3 and 360 you will notice that most of the time they acknowledge the Graphics. if you see the gameplay of DoC it is quite similar on the games i mentioned earlier, it is on third person etc.

It is on third person etc.???????????????????

What exactly have those games in common? One of them isn't even seen in third person (Halo).

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Cinematic War Stealth.

Dead Space - Space Survival Horror.

Halo 3 - Sci-fi FPS.

GTAIV - Sandbox Crime Simulation.

Disaster looks nothing like any of them from what I understand.

Also going by your logic World of Goo should be scoring awful on most sites, well actually it's getting all 9s and above.

Graphics are not everything. Haze and Lair have great HD shiny graphics but crappy, crappy gameplay.

Please let this come to america. I thoight reviewers were saying it was bad, but I guess not.randomguy15

No, it's the opposite, the press seems favorable, instead often I heard a lot of badmouthing from gamers here and on other sites.

That's cool! Lately the poor game was getting too much crititics from people who didn't play it, so it's great to hear someone who actually played it and said nice stuff.

Plus I don't give a damn about the subpar graphics (or else I would've bought a PS360), I was more worried about controls and gameplay. I was gonna buy it anyway (I suck for epic scenarios), now I feel relieved.

wii is capable of impressive graphics. no reason to lower standards b/c developers have been uninspired to give out quality visuals

Yeah, I know. Just look at the Conduit.

Though I'm more about style than realism. So I'd take Galaxy or Wind Waker anytime over Halo or Crysis.

Ok, i just found it on the shelves today in europe and I'm already stuck in the driving scene, a building is collapsing and raymond says he'll has to charge trough, but I still don't make it in time, anyone with the game imported has any suggestions?

jelmew

wow you purchased that? any good?

Graphics could be better, but the gameplay and controls themselves are pretty good, pretty inituitive(if that's the right word) driving is suprisingly accurate, as well as shooting.
