[QUOTE="Squall_2"]yeah they have to have meaning or theres no point doing themLady_Bahamut

I would disagree with that. Surely if there was a good enough prize at the end of the side quest you would go through with it anyway? Although side quests with some plot is nice, a very good example of that (although not a SE game) would be Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant.

I agree. You don't really need a plot line. It was easy with Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant cuz it was a sequel and didn't have to tie into anything. I'm sure Square-Enix will come up with something. FFX did a good job (even though there wasn't any real plot in it, I still did most of it.)

[QUOTE="Cronaroth"]what would Cloud say if he woke up with his hair shaven?fs_metal
OH PHOOPISS! I am going to have to wear a wig

That sounds more like something Yuffie would say if her hair was shaven off...

Either's fine really. Random battles are somewhat of a trademark of RPG's in my opinion. But with being able to see your enemies, you can choose not to fight them in a tight situation, and it does make the game seem more realistic than monsters just coming out of nowhere like with random battles. Crisis Core was kinda a mix. You couldn't visually "see" the enemy, but it was plainly obvious where they'd be, and they could be (sometimes) easily avoided. There's pros and cons to both...

I don't mind random battles at all. I'm actually quite used to them. The only issue is that you don't know what enemy you'll get so you can't equip accordingly in most games. For example, if you have to fight a Malborro in FFX, you could easily get screwed over cuz of status effects. Other than that though, it adds to surprise, and in my opinion, it makes me more likely to do the battles. Oh, and in most FF's, there is an escape button to flee with random battles anyway...

fs_metal has a point. Though they all had a slight connection; it seemed like there was no true reason for them to help Ivalice in the first place. Oh, and I consider Vaan to kinda be the "main" character cuz you're forced to walk as him in cities and stuff...

But if he did, for some reason, ever had the gunblade, he'd probably just ask Squall for his sword back.

I think Vaan being the "main" character ruined the game for me. I just didn't like it all that much. In my opinion, FFVIII was better.
