@Lightposte:

Yeah, a friend of mine at work actually explained to me why David Hayter wouldn't have been able to voice the main character of MGS V... So at least there was a reason for it... I tried Ground Zeroes though and found that game to just not feel like an MGS game so I found it nearly impossible to want to spend the $79.99 on Phantom Pain :/

One of these days if a good enough sale comes up on Steam... Here's hoping! haha

@jako998: That's the exact reason they CAN'T in most cases. GTA is only possible because of the insane amount of money and resources that Rockstar has nowadays. Saints Row was possible because of the low resource use for being an open-world game, but it very clearly looks poor compared to GTA. Balancing a game like this for online takes such a crazy amount of time and effort that simply isn't worth it for something that a majority of people would use for a maximum of 1 - 3 hours.

I still haven't bought Phantom Pain because I can't get over David Hayter not being part of it. I could barely get through an hour of Ground Zeroes with Jack Bauer as Big Boss. I WANT to play the fucking game, but I can't do it... I have been playing since MGS1, I have played every single entry in the series, watched almost every interview with David Hayter, watched all kinds of fan-related material and all of the video content of the franchise. How, after 18 years, am I supposed to accept a change like that for the main protagonist of the franchise? Ughh....

And on top of it, all of the Konami related bullshit makes it that much harder to want to buy the game. I think the only way I will ever end up playing it is if I get it used for $40 or less... And I was so damn happy about a new game coming out when it was announced.... Up until I heard the rumblings of David Hayter not being a part of it. Hell, I have teared up from a few games in the franchise with how poignant and powerful some of the scenes were. I full on cried at the end of MGS 4. That was powerful stuff there! It makes me sad that I can't enjoy this one...

@Nayru-chan: I'm hoping so too! Although, I was more hoping that they would make a definitive PS4 collection with Disgaea 1, 2, 3, 4 and D2 -- I already own every single one, but I think it'd be awesome if they used the Disgaea 5 engine and updated all of the games with their respective original (or maybe PSP/Vita remake) differences. It'd be awesome :P Maybe they're seeing if there's enough of a player base for the older games to make that viable first though.

@Nev3rtime Yes but those third party developers in a lot of cases don't exist anymore; and the ones that do, they would have to buy the rights to rerelease content from those games -- hence why you just will not see that happen... Virtual Console is one thing, but paying to release a tiny mini-game referencing Friday the 13th for NES or something would just cost too much to be pointless. You know?

I totally agree though, it would be nice to see more appreciation of the 3rd party devs who often really showcased what Nintendo's consoles could do in some cases. And just showed what games in general could be.

@Sunuva22 You should think about it this way though: They were the only games of their kind when the first two SSB came out. Now that we've seen how a story mode can be in a SSB game; removing it significantly reduces the overall amount of content in the game.

I don't really care that it won't have the story mode; but it was honestly one of the reasons I played SSBB for as many hours as I did simply because it took a bit to finish the entire Subspace Emissary. It was also a nice way to unlock the characters without having to sit and do 300+ Vs. battles. And of course... I just ended up playing Melee all the time still. I'm curious if this new SSB will take the place of Melee. The only reason I ever played Brawl was because I have been a Sonic fan since I bought the first game back in '91; so it was awesome to get to play one of my all time favourite characters. I was also quite good at playing him considering I always play the fastest characters in SSB. I was SO disappointed with Falco in SSBB because I always played him in Melee. But anyways; it'll certainly be interesting to see how this game goes.

This game was one of the games that made me glad I bought a Wii U, however due to financial issues RIGHT AFTER buying the Wii U, I still haven't played it: Or any other Wii U games aside from NSMB U sadly... I can't wait to get this some day though as it looks light-hearted and fun as hell. I love having some nice light fun every once in awhile, especially more so as I get older. Can't wait to play this! :)
