because is it unreasonable to have free speech on sites? No it isn't and Ellen Pao wanted the site censored
unregulated free speech is pretty obviously a shitty business strategy, as evidenced by reddit's failure to turn a profit ever. apparently, sheltering racists and bigots makes advertisers really wary about giving you their business.
i never said that... If you threaten someone elses freedom, then you should get the consequences... Did you even read what i wrote?
Well, you spoke in favor of free speech and criticized Pao's banning of a harassing subreddit. Perhaps you could have explained a bit further.
I did say that if you look up above. Pao however and the mods have been actively going for censorship. For crying out loud they banned whale watching because they thought it was a harassment subreddit...
Also it's funny to see Gawker going down in flames! :D
They reinstated whale watching when they realized they made a mistake in banning it while trying to nail all the spinoff harassment subs created in the wake of the fatpeoplehate banning.
The great irony is that Pao was the one standing between investors and even greater moderation of the site. Once reddit threw its petulant fit after not being able to harass overweight people anymore, it opened itself up to a bunch of fresh bannings.
Why are people talking about government policy on speech in relation to reddit

what has the world come to
is Affirmative action a form of "black privilege". Should white people feel guilty for having "privilege" or should they feel grateful and maybe even work to hold onto their "privilege", does the term "white privilege" minimize/overlook the struggles and difficulties that many white Americans go through in their everyday life. Are white rappers given a fair shake in the hip-hop industry or is it an uphill battle where they have to prove themselves to a higher degree than non-white rappers do?
no, no but they should be mindful of it and work toward parity for minority groups, no, lol macklemore says hi
checkmate, statists
I do appreciate that all the gay marriage opponents have suddenly become constitutional law experts and so know the court's decision was wrong.
Not nearly as much as we appreciate comments like yours that seem to suddenly think this wasn't a split decision and there isn't a minority of Supreme court justices who also disagree with the majority and you.
So a fun fact, just because you agree with the majority, It will not not make the majority's decision suddenly become the absolute truth.
in this case 'truth' isn't all that relevant, all that matters is that the minority's opinion has exactly zero force of law behind it, while the majority's opinion dictates how this country will be administered in this case.
ya lost, bud. ya lost forever.
