As disappointing as it is to still not see a MH game on the Switch, I certainly hope it's not ported to it. We can't have another MH3U situation. MH is too much of a niche franchise and the vast majority will much rather pick up the cheaper 3DS version on a device they already own than the clearly superior version. The Switch needs its own exclusive MH game, any multiplat port will flop again.

@Litchie: No such thing as fast in Japan :P
MHX was released Fall 2015 in Japan so this is one of the longer breaks for the annual franchise (MHStories is more of a spin-off). Usually it only takes 10-12 months. You can say they're more consistently annual than Pokemon itself.
The shortest localization period we had for a MH game was for 4U (about 4 months), so we could see MHXX/Generations "Ultimate?" by next Fall the earliest, which will be over a year since Generations so not too bad.

$200 is super ideal. If it's $200 I'd buy it on launch. I can see it being $250 though. $300 is really pushing it but is the highest price I'd consider to pay for it.

Sorry to burst some bubbles, but when translated (thanks gaijin hunter!), the fine print on the Direct page claims that this presentation will not show information for a Nintendo Switch or smartphone title.

Although MH5 for Switch would have been amazing, looks like we're going to get another 3DS title.

It looks interesting but the trailer was unsatisfying.

I'd be impressed.

but I can't stop feeling uneasy. I'm truly hesitant on which of the countless NX rumors are revealed to be true.

Definitely MK8. Although its roster and battle mode were disappointing, the DLC made up for it. The next installment has big shoes to fill.

Oh god I hope not.

The Gen 1 hype going on at the moment is cute and understandable, especially with it being the 20th anniversary and the eShop games finally released and Pokemon Go being hugely successful, but you can only absorb so much nostalgia before it gets tiresome. We already traveled to Kanto four times in four different generations, you can easily go experience it again on the eShop for $10, and Gamefreak was not subtle at all with the Kanto pandering in X&Y. And this is coming from a franchise that has been feeling incredibly stagnant from their yearly releases from Platinum to ORAS. No offense but no thanks.

Xenoblade Chronicles. It deserves better hardware than the wii. Everything else listed in this thread just needs a sequel.

Oh man, I'll gladly buy it a third time with HD visuals.

I would like to see Skyward Sword remade and have all of its kinks ironed out or removed.

Also, I love how "New Nintendo NX" in the title is now a completely possible name for the NX's future successor lol.

@juboner: Hyrule being flooded lies in the Adult timeline, shown below.

As mentioned in the beginning of Wind Waker, the flood was a direct cause of Ganon escaping the sacred realms and causing havoc. The people prayed that the legendary Hero of Time from OoT would reappear to save them again, but despite their desperate pleas, the Hero of Time did not appear. Hence, they had no choice but to appeal to the goddesses hoping that they would save them from Ganondorf and the goddesses decided to flood Hyrule to do so. Unfortunately, flooding Hyrule did not stop Ganondorf and thus Wind Waker starts.

Basically think of these three branches as parallel universes. However, the amount of time between each game is still uncertain.

Now that I think about it, considering the Koroks from BotW have the same exact models as the ones in Wind Waker, it can be predicted that BotW sets during the same time period as WW, but in the Fallen parallel universe. They could be the same characters we met and helped in WW, but they have no recollection of the events currently happening in the Adult parallel timeline. Basically, Rick & Morty levels of shenanigans lol. But that's just a theory, A GAAAME THEORY.

@juboner: Something in my gut tells me what he originally meant but did not want to spoil was the Wolf Link Amiibo compatibility. My gut is telling me that's the only thing the game has in relation to TP.

------------------

As for my thoughts on timeline placement, I'm a firm believer BotW occurs in the Decline/Fallen timeline, right after OoT and before ALttP. My second guess would be before Wind Waker, but that's solely because the Koroks are really making things complicated. It could be placed before TP but all Koroks must perish since there's no existence of them or the Deku tree in TP or Four Swords.

What's absolutely certain is that BotW is not after TP or the WW trilogy, and our biggest clue is the Temple of Time. The temple is in worse decay in TP, engulfed by dense forest and completely inaccessible to the general public. TP is set too much into the future compared to BotW. In WW, Hyrule is forever gone, King Daphnes wished to the triforce to set these children free, causing the curse that started with Demise to end, and the blood of the Goddess has traveled to new land. There's no more Ganon after Wind Waker and I seriously doubt there's a force or a god with the power to undo a wish made to the triforce. Plus, the Temple of Time is too intact. Hyrule Castle is also intact. Both of those iconic landmarks should have been destroyed by water pressure if there was some kind of drought after WW. Also, the rusted master sword on the pedestal does not make sense if someone happened to remove it from Ganondorf's skull.

The only logical placement is in the Decline timeline, which makes even more sense considering Link is resurrected instead of reincarnated. Why go through all the trouble of resurrecting a Link from the past if one is supposed to eventually reincarnate? Unless, they need to resurrect the one canonly defeated by Ganon in the Decline timeline to give him a second chance to fulfill his destiny and finally save this fallen Hyrule because no one else can do it.

I initially thought about placing it after Zelda II considering the amount of emphasis on going back to the NES roots, but then I remembered the Temple of Time. BotW's Temple of Time has definitely seen better days, but its ruins are still fresh. Its roof is still standing and most of its walls are intact. Not long has passed since Ocarina of Time, especially considering a scaled replica of the Goddess Hylia statue from Skyward Sword is present inside where Link can pray. Well, the statue could most likely be an easter egg since it's not shown anywhere else but SS, but it could be a hint that this game is set closer to SS in the timeline but definitely after OoT. In a timeline where people only have faith to depend on, but the image of Hylia has not yet been forgotten.

As for the Koroks... man, I don't know. They could pull a bullshit explanation and the Kokiri has evolved into the Koroks in the Decline timeline in order to reach longer distances and survive like they did in WW, and potentially leave this fallen kingdom of Hyrule to better places, eventually landing in Labrynna/Holodrum from the Oracle games and growing the Maku Trees. That's my best guess at the moment.
