Fallout 3 Impressions

Fallout 3 GOTY Impressions

I started playing the game a couple of days ago and out of the 6 games that I got (Need For Speed Shift, Fallout 3 GOTY, Resistance 2 Collector's Edition, Singstar, The Beatles Rockband and Call of Duty World at War) this is the one that I'm enjoying the most.

I had bad first impressions about RPGs since I watched some gameplay videos on the Internet and found out that animations were often not done properly, that the graphics weren't good and that the gameplay looked as if the game was boring.

But watching videos, especially for RPGs, tend not to show how good a game is.

My love affair with Fallout 3 started last week, when one of my friends found it in rebate at our local Staples store (which is impressive since usualy their prices are higher than anywhere else).

The original game was 7$ and the GOTY edition was 27$. Since I'm a fanatic of expansion packs, I decided to buy the GOTY.

I pop the game in my PS3, start the game and after finishing the three main quests I get out of Vault 101 and I got totally immersed in the apocalyptic world that is Washington DC Wastelands.

At first the game was pretty hard, but I've got a guide and it really helps (so get it if you have the game; it's almost a must-have). I checked in it and only then I realised how great the game really is! I knew it was an open-world sandbox game, but never I would have imagined to that extend!

I mean, it's a really big world and you can go almost anywhere! You can enter lots of buildings to find hidden weapons and there are new quests in the expansions. It is so complete and it is astonishing how much things are hidden and waiting to be discovered. It is really fun to search the land to discover new things.

I saw on a youtube video how to get a special laser gun (which is supposed to kill any enemies in 1 shot) and I went searching for it for at least an hour before I finally found it. As I was going to take it, one of the expansions took the lead and I was kidnapped by aliens (Mothership Zeta ;).

Now there are so many questions in my head.

What is going to happen next?
Will I finally be able to get this laser gun?
Will I return to earth changed and with exclusive guns?
Will I even be able to escape the d@mn ship?

And many more...

You see, I really like the exploration that the game has to offer and the choices I can make (i.e. decide to make Megaton explode or not), and it actually have a direct impact on the quests that will be available after it explodes. Since some persons will be dead, I won't be able to complete the quests that they had in store for me.

I can't wait to go in the underground metro and see what it's like, as well as visit some other locals. There are so many things I can do in this game; so many things to discover.

And that is what I like the most of the game. I'm going to play all of the expansions for sure and I'm going to be stuck playing Fallout 3 for a long time. I'm also going to be reading a lot, since the guide is 500 pages!!!

Too much games in my library

I don't know if it is the same thing for you, but I have too many games in my library. I've got some games more than a year ago and still haven't played them! I'm sure they are great but I always have that other great game (in this case Fallout 3) to get in the way of playing the other ones. I'm not saying this is bad, but I've got to game as much as I'm buying :P.

So what do you think of Fallout 3?

Coming back my buddies! :)

I'm coming back to gamespot :)

The actors can't shoot the movie this week so I'm free!

By the way I got 6 new games! ;) I don't remember the price of each, but all of those added up to roughly 150$ tax included.

Singstar + 2 Mics (was 20$):

*I bought the game because I needed mics for Rockband.*

Beatles Rockband (?$):

Need for Speed Shift (17$) :

Fallout 3 Game of the Year (27$):

Resistance 2 Collector's Edition (20$):

Call of Duty World at War (?$):

As you can guess, they were in clearance. Guitar Hero 5 was 20$; good games were cheap. Sometimes it's ridiculous how we can get good deals.

Haha got your attention, didn't I?

but I'm not permanently leaving. I should be back online in July :) I'm just having so much more important things to do than gamespot right now.

My movie + updates

I just started my movie's introduction and it's just awesome! :)

I'll shoot the first scene next friday and I'm hoping the weather will allow me to.

Don't worry, the movie probably will PARTIALLY be on youtube. Since I'm going to be selling copies I can't post the whole thing since people would just go to youtube and watch it instead of buying it :P.

My new Canon FS200 camera is amazing. I can do such amazing effects!

I can manually adjust the exposure and the focus.

Example of manual focus: This kind of effect is great for making the movie look professional

Then I can change the focus to this while shooting.

Example of manual exposure:

And since it's a video, those effects look awesome. By the way I did record the examples above.

Been pretty busy and I'm not going to be on gamespot much for the next two weeks.

The ShawShank Redemption

The ShawShank Redemption

Has any of you seen the movie ShawShank Redemption? I watched it a couple of days ago and it is a very good movie. Almost as good as Schindler's List!

Plot summary: Andy Dufresne, is sent to Shawshank Prison for the murder of his wife and secret lover. He is very isolated and lonely at first, but realizes there is something deep inside your body, that people can't touch and get to....'HOPE'. Andy becomes friends with prison 'fixer' Red, and Andy epitomizes why it is crucial to have dreams. His spirit and determination, leads us into a world full of imagination, filled with courage and desire. Will Andy ever realize his dreams?

I won't give you the link (since that would be illegal), but you can download it on megaupload.

FPS quiz

My turn to do one. Do you know from which games those screenshots/artwork come from?

10. (not a shooter but an awesome game)

If you got all of them congrats and I'll let you know from where the 60spaure nickname originates from. :)

I can't rely on people!

I can't rely on people!

I'm serious! In real life, I can't rely on anyone to meet me somewhere in time. When I ask some "friends" to come over, they usually don't show up and when I need somebody to remember something they usually forget. And when I lend games (or should I say when I used to lend games), they usually came back to me only months after.

I don't know if this is the same for some of you, but that's how it is for me. It seems as if I'm always giving help to people but never getting anything back (the definition of being USED).

Anyway, that's my thought of the day.

I returned the JVC back and bought a Canon FS200

I returned the JVC Everio GZ-MG630 because it gave a poor visual quality. The images were NOT looking good at all and for the 400$ price I paid, it just wasn't good enough.

Instead, I bought the cheaper Canon FS200, which was 250$ plus taxes. As you can see on this youtube video, the video quality is georgous compared to the JVC. I have to wait until it gets here though (I bought it on Futureshop.ca)

As you can see, the camera doesn't look very good. The "inside" is good though.

So never buy a JVC camcorder like this one unless you want poor video quality (grainy and the colors are faded out).
