Very interested in this CHANGE. Honestly I don't see this happening as often as we think, mean lets look, by the time we get the upgraded consoles, 4K will be established (not as big as FHD I think) so that is what MS and Sony are aiming to hit also VR. Beyond that, as of now, is there any technology that would be forcing MS and Sony's hand? I don't think so.
Consoles, unlike PCs, are reigned in and kinda controlled by other technologies, mainly televisions, which are themselves controlled by content, etc. So yeah we will get new boxes soon, but I reckon the PS5 and Xbox 2 are gonna come WAY after that.
Also, I reckon that Steam had a hand in this, with their big push to bring PC gaming to the living room (and pc gaming is evolving VERY fast), MS and Sony had to try and remind people that they are still around, especially since their current consoles are pretty weak compared to PCs
SO essentially we are getting PS+ with gaming attached....sounds fine to me! PS+ is a wicked service! XBL is great for those constantly gaming online, but for those who aren't such big gamers but want the service it wasn't the greatest! PSN is fine!
@jeffrobin @VenkmanPHD Well that sucks, I actually like Collectors edition of games!.... What wrong with having both? People who want their games on disc can go ahead and bu whilst the digi only peeps can sit a DL...seems like a no-brainer or am I missing something!
P.S. You tend to forget that an mp3 weighs in at 7 mb or so where as games can come in at 10gb+ which is quite unreasonable for a LOT of people. Yes, internet speeds will increase and HDD space will grow but it will take time, who knows how long but time nonetheless.
@troll_eat_troll @Verenti Yea....some people don't have access to Kickstarter paying methods or don't like not owning physical copies of their games.... Getting games into the hands f more people is never a bad thing!
