I respect GameSpot defending Carolyn's review, I'm okay with it getting a 9, and I'm fine with Carolyn as a person.
HOWEVER, I don't believe the way women are viewed and treated in the game is as morally offensive as running around rampantly killing people like you do so very often in this game. Also you're forced to torture someone to progress and that was not mentioned in the "bad" bullet points of the review. My point is that I don't see how the reviewer can single out one offensive thing and not address the others, and Feedbackula failed to recognize this as well.
This game also features extreme violence, threatening of civilians, disobedience to all traffic laws, and there's even a part where you are forced to torture someone. These are all things that you HAVE TO DO as the player in order to progress - and something that is being SIMULATED, unlike any misogyny that may be present.
Strip clubs are OPTIONAL, you DON'T have to listen to the radio stations that may make less of women, and you certainly DON'T have to pick up prostitutes.
While I'm sure there are some one-liners about women that can't be avoided in the dialogue in the main story, it's simply not fair to take away any points because of this one thing when the other things you do as the player are much more "evil" than trashing women.
