You keep making it sound like I'm against music in games, which I'm not. I just wish there were more music like the music in Mass Effect and Limbo in todays games, and less generic movie scores. Let's leave it at that :)

Duke_Dude, have you even played Limbo? The music in that game IS the atmosphere! I'm not against music in games. I LOVE the Lost Odyssey soundtrack and some of the music in the first mass effect. Hans Zimmer knows what he's doing, no doubt about that, but I just don't find his stuff to be very emotional. Sounds like generic movie music to me. edit: aw, look at all the thumb downs on my comments. How cute

The fact is, a lot of gamers doesn't care about music in games. So why should the developers bother? Just hire some boring unoriginal 'composer' like Hans Zimmer for the main theme, and people will be all over it. Simple music for simple minds.

Most people want 'epic' orchestral tunes in their games, and I really don't understand that. Limbo had some of the most touching music I've ever heard in a game, and yet, people claim that Limbo had no music at all. i'm tired of cheesy movie soundtracks in games!
