The DS version is identical to the PS1 version, which has added cutscenes (kinda tacked on). Other than that it's still the same game. Get the DS one, it's cheaper, you can get it new, and it's portable. It's been taking up my train rides to work lately. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if that is the price.

The 3ds will be one of the first 3d cameras, plus the first portable no glasses device to watch movies, plus it's backwards compatible with all nintendo handheld games, plus 3d gaming with no glasses, plus the most powerful handheld system ever created, plus it's got a great lineup. Nintendo can easily charge $300. Every other option on the market that does even half what the 3ds does will still be more expensive.

I've got some money stashed away for the special day it releases! Got the GBA and DS in the first week and plan on doing it again!

lol whats with all the post darth? Anyway, around the GC is what I expected and like I posted a few minutes ago in price prediction thread, Nintendo is known for using cost efficient tech, so the most expensive part of the handheld is probably the screen, so a high price is very very unlikely. Sepewrath

Nintendo has always been good at cutting costs in the right places to sell for cheaper and make bigger profits than everyone else at the same time. Giving consumers a good balance of tech/cost. I remember when Sony announced the PS3 was going to launch at $500 and defended themselves by saying, "it's just the cost of going out for a nice dinner". And with Microsoft's $150 Kinect accesory, both companies are just showing how out of touch they are with the average gamer/family. Nintendo just gets it. Period.

The first iteration of the DS was the first system I bought on launch day. The 3ds will be the second. :D

It was Christmas day 1993, and I didn't know that I was about to experience one of the most eye opening days of gaming in my life. My last present opened, Pilotwings for SNES. At first I didn't know what to think, I'd never even heard of it before and sure didn't ask for the game. So I popped in the game and was unexpectedly blown away. The sheer depth as I plummeted towards the ground from hundreds of feet above, felt like I could see for miles as I hang glided across the sky, it was just a surreal feeling. There hadn't really been any "3d" games up until that point, at least not to that magnitude with a camera moving around in a fully realized environment.

Until I heard they were releasing Pilotwings with the 3ds, I had almost forgot about this specific moment entirely. We kind of just take how far games have come for granted. I can't imagine a more appropriate title to launch with the 3ds and I can not wait to relive the same shock and awe I felt all those years ago. Cheers Nintendo. All these years later I'm still hooked. :)
