Once you get into the mindset of the puzzles and the intriguing story, the game proves to be quite a trip!

Professor Layton and the Curious Village had me in disgust at first, I will admit. The puzzles will scare many players away from the start of the game, as it did me. However the gripping story, attractive cinematics, and charming graphics kept me going.

The story kicks off with great graphics and fully voiced cutscenes. The story continually evolves as you progress by exploring through the lush city and talking with the vibrant characters. The story leaves you asking questions, and is full of mindbending twists and turns, making it one of the most satisfying parts of the game.

The puzzles have an odd "mindset", in that every answer is (generally) quite obvious, but takes creativity and logic to solve. At first, the puzzles seem near impossible. Although you can find hint coins throughout the town, you always feel as if you are wasting them to no avail. However once you get in the game's mindset, the hints seem to become more helpful, and the puzzles really grow on you.

My only problem was that a number of the puzzles are simply too hard, or cheap. I found myself looking up several puzzles on the internet, and even then I never really understood them. I got frustrated on several occasions, however this small percentage of the puzzles don't completely spoil the title's impressive collection of puzzles.

Although this puzzle title is definitely not for everyone, it is still a robust and artfully crafted DS title no puzzle fan should miss.
