Pride FC is defiantly the best Mixed Martial Arts game to date.

The Gameplay is good, but there are some aspects of it, that if you are a fan of MMA you will definitely be slightly bothered by. One is the catching a punch on the ground to reverse position. This is incredibly unrealistic, but it doesn’t kill the game for you if you’re knowledgeable in mixed martial arts. Some other portions of the game could use to be a little finer tuned, but I imagine that an MMA simulation game is a bit hard to make look completely realistic, as apposed to say a Baseball sim. The graphics are defiantly a weak point in this game. They are defiantly not great for a 2003 release, but they are certainly manageable and don’t degrade the game too badly. The games sound is good; there aren’t many sounds to the game outside of the Gameplay, which does provide a Pride-like atmosphere. The game has no real single player story mode or anything. The closest thing is a mode where you have to win like 20 fights al in a row which isn’t much fun and doesn’t take very long. If you aren’t a Mixed Martial Arts fan your enjoyment of this game probably won’t last that long. Mostly the best thing to do is to just set up fights and tournaments and have fun that way. If you’re a big MMA fan you can do this for a long time, but if your not the games value may be really short. Overall it is a good game that will hopefully be outdone by a better MMA sim game, but will certainly due for now. The biggest problem I can see is if you aren’t huge into MMA the game is probably more of a rental for you. On the other side if your big into MMA you can play it for a while on the basic just pick a fight and do it or set up a tourney. But, if you are that much of a fan of MMA then this sim may not seem realistic enough for you, whereas someone who isn’t really into MMA may not be bothered by that but won’t get much out of just doing fights and tourneys. I don’t mean to sound to negative twards this game, because it is defiantly the best missed martial arts game of the market.
