One of the first games ever. An interesting part of gaming history.

Review 1: Pong for Atari 2600/ Atari Flashback 2/ Arcade

No, I have never actually played the original arcade pong. However, the exact same game was on the Atari Flashback 2 System, which I have played many times. The only difference is your using a 2600 controller.

This game was the first quarter operated Arcade game, released in 1972. Originally, many spots rejected it, thinking people would rip off the TV in side. It eventually went over though, and was seen in numerous spots, like bars. Since, it has been ported to many different systems and games.

What About the game itself? It is simply 2 paddles, a ball, and a line between them. Sounds simple? Well it is. You have to remember that this is one of the first games ever. The ball goes back and forth between the paddles, bouncing back whenever it hits one. If the ball gets behind player one's paddle, player two scores a point. If the ball goes behind player two's paddle, player one scores a point. In rare cases, the ball can glitch through the paddle. Despite this, the physics in this game were amazing at the time. The creators were also quite creative- when there was no room for sound on the chip, they used the sounds the chip made.

The original arcade ports were colored for how many players could play. Yellow was meant for two players, and every other color was a one player game, where you would face the computer. The Atari flashback 2 port allows you to select 1 or two players.

Back then, it was hours of fun. Today, it's good for about 15 minutes of good fun with a friend, per every time you play. Quite honestly, it was the most enjoyable Atari game ever, and the only one I still enjoy to date. Thank you for reading!
