A great addition to the collections of Pokemon fans; buy it for the mayhem of multiplayer battles.

This is one of my favorite Pokemon games; it's third, behind Emerald and LeafGreen. However, non-Pokemon fans ought to steer clear. The basic gameplay is not much different than previous Pokemon games, and this one isn't likely to change your mind.
Naturally, the story isn't the best; the basic plot is the same as Pokemon Colosseum. But I still like this one better because I found it slightly less difficult and much funnier. A group of bad guys called the Hexagon Brothers have a silly enough theme song, but when they count each other wrong it's downright hilarious. I makes me laugh every time.
The graphics have improved tremendously over Colosseum, with the moves looking so incredible. Unfortunately, there isn't a single-player battle mode where you fight through the coloseums ala Pokemon Stadium. It more than makes up for it with what truly shines: the multiplayer mode.
For the first time, you can pick the arena you battle on instead of fighting on the same place over and over. Provided that you have a good bunch of friends who have Game Boy Advances and a GBA Pokemon game, you'll really get a kick out of battling your friends in single, double, or multi-battles.
Overall, Pokemon XD has a solid single player mode and an incredibly fun multiplayer mode. Pokemon fans ought to check it out, since its one of only two ways to add a Lugia to your team. How do you purify the mascot, Shadow Lugia? Its a secret, but purifying Shadow Pokemon a toying with the Purify Chamber is the key.
