Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. However, unlike many remakes, much of the game has been altered. For example, rather than being able to bribe the gate guard with fresh water, lemonade, or soda pop, you must instead bring him some tea to get him to leave you alone. The quest still revolves around an up-and-coming trainer who runs around the world, bikes, fishes, catches Pokemon, and battles other Pokemon trainers. The gameplay really hasn't changed that much throughout the years, but the somewhat long quest to become the Pokemon League champion is still fun after all these years. If you're a fan and you don't have this game, you are obviously new to Pokemon, as this is one of the best games in the series, despite the fact that there is almost nothing new here.
