Even if you never played the original games, you can't miss this amazing experience

User Rating: 9 | Pocket Monsters LeafGreen GBA
Pokemon. A great series started in 1996 with Pokemon Green and Red, which made as Red and Blue outside Japan. Why? I don't know, but what it know is that Pokemon LeafGreen and FireRed are remakes of the original japanese versions, almost 10 years. Wheater you played Red or Blue (or Green or Yellow), you really need to play this versions, as they are trully great games.

GRAPHICS:
The graphics are the same from Pokemon Ruby and Saphire, and they look pretty good for GBA grahpics. Pokemon sprites look great, even though i don't really like the attacks animations for this generation. 4.5/5

SOUND:
The music is all remixed from the original games and from generation II, and they sound pretty damn good, even though the cries of Pokemons don't sound very good. 4/5

GAMEPLAY:
This is a turn based RPG. The gameplay is basiclly the same from all the other Pokemon games, where you catch different monsters, raise them up, beat different gyms so you can beat the Elite Four and then become the champion of the region. It is standart for the series, but still as exiting and entertaining as ever. This game, being a remake from the first games, play in Kanto, the original generation, so the gyms and towns are the same as before. In question of new features, after you beat the game, you can take on a short sidequest on a place called the Sevii Islands, where you can catch pokemon from other generations. This is definitelly a welcomed addition, lenghtening more the gameplay. Doing everything in the game will easily take more than 20 hours, plus the amazing replayability of the series. Now, i haven't said anything about the story, since it is really shallow, and really dosen't affect the game. You play as a 10 year old boy/girl, that when completes this age, goes on a pokemon journey. There is a bit of story, and some elements added in this version which are interesting for the arc of the whole series, but still is pretty much forgettable. There are 386 pokemon as of this generation (gen 3), and you'll really be entertained to catch them all, even though you'll need the other games of this generation. 5/5

OVERALL:
Pokemon LeafGreen/FireRed are great additions for the series, deffinitelly being worth being played. Even though i have LeafGreen, i would suggest more FireRed, for the exclusive pokemon it has, but any of them work, since the core gameplay is just amazing.

Pros and cons:
+Faithful remakes of the original games
+Entertaining gameplay is intact
+Lenghty adventure with tons of replayability
+Welcomed additions
+Great music
-No real changes in gameplay
-Almost inexistent story
