It's time for the Pokemon Colosseum Review. For the Gamecube.

This game is the first real Pokemon game for the Gamecube. Let's see how it turned out.

The story mode, unlike most Pokemon games, is MUCH more involved. This was a nice change, since most Pokemon games don't have a head-on story. The story is about how you steal a mechanism that lets you steal Pokemon from trainers in the middle of battle. You also meet a girl that has the ability to see Shadow Pokemon. Let me explain what they are.

Shadow Pokemon are Pokemon that had their hearts "artifically closed." These Pokemon won't hesitate to attack people. You and the girl's goal is to snag as many Shadow Pokemon and stop the people behind this. So the story is a little lame, but I don't mind it.

I guess I forgot, right? Well, during battle, Shadow Pokemon only have one attack, Shadow Rush. After you snag one, you can use it right away. However, everytime you use Shadow Rush, the Pokemon gets hit with recoil. If you want to make it a regular Pokemon again, you have to use it in battle. This can become tedious, so for major battles, you might wanna stick with the two Pokemon you start with. You will start with an Espeon and an Umbreon. Once it's heart is fully cleared, you have to go somewhere and Purify it, which will make it a normal Pokemon again. Oh yeah, Shadow Pokemon also can't level up and you can't bring them out of the game. So this system is pretty unique, but one thing I didn't like is that you can only capture those Shadow Pokemon, and there are no Wild Pokemon. You can capture certain legendary Pokemon though, such as the legendary dogs and even a legendary bird.......

Most of the battling will be Double Battles. This means you fight 2 Pokemon against 2 Pokemon. This adds more strategy and move combos.

The graphics look good. The 3D effect is nice.

The controls are perfect. Move around with the Stick, Press A to talk, and that's it.

Despite the name, you will actually be walking around a lot. After all, it's an RPG.

At a certain point at the game, you will be able to trade with your Game Boy games. This will let you get Pokemon that you couldn't normally get in your Gameboy games(without cheating)

Pokemon Colosseum is a nice step up for Nintendo. This was a really fun game to play. The only downsides are that you can only capture certain Shadow Pokemon, and you can't save anywhere. You can only save at PCs. This means you always have to find a spot to save, and when you start the game again, you won't remember what your planning to do.

This game gets an 8 out of 10 with the title of Great.
