Even better than the original, and more true to the show!
First off, the gameplay is the same this time around with some little twists. You must use your first Pokemon you get (which is now Pikachu) and fight, collect, and rasie more Pokemon so that you can run through towns de feating trainers and the gym leaders so that you can ultimately win the last tournament and beat your rival in a final showdown. This game, comapred with Red and Blue, just does everything a little better than its predecessor.
The graphics haven't really been updated, but there is a lot more color if you play this with your GBC. The sound is the same and all as well. But, the main difference is that the the overall feel of the game is much more closer to that of the show, in that you start off with Pikachu, and can find Sqirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur along the way instead of just picking one of them from the start. If you liked the first game, you're gonna love this one! There is enough new stuff here, with the different Pokemon and tweaked dungeon layouts and all, to make this feel like a different game. And who isn't happy that they can really fight Team Rocket this time around?
This game is still fun today, and anyone who loves Pokemon or lengthy RPGs has got to pick up this game! It's one of the best in the whole series and the last one that appeared on the Game Boy!
