Plants vs. Zombies is a type of tower defense, but instead of defending a tower you'll protect your own house from zombies. The game is very easy to get into, thanks to a gentle learning curve, variety in gameplay and graphics which although are simple, are charming.

There are around 3 or 4modes; adventure, puzzle and survival, but at first you have to play the adventure to gain access to the others. The first level is simple, but to get the hang of it and the difficulty starts getting a little tougher on the next level. Story isn't part of this game. Sometimes a guy talks to you, but that doesn't state that this game sucks.

Gameplay is so simple that even a child can learn it quickly. You control the plants which protect your house. When you get enough sun energy from the sun or sunflowers, you can "summon" plants to your help. There are plants that can shot, plants which give you sun and others, but all have a different of sun needed. Some have 50, 100 and even 200, if you don't have enough you can't use, and after you plant a plant, you have to wait for it to recharge in order to call in another. After each mission won, you get a card, which is a type of plant you can use; there are some many which add up quite well in variety. When you put an obstacle in their way, the zombies eat it.

Zombies are your enemies here, so kill them all. If they reach your house for the first time, they still die by the mini car, but the second time they might enter. Most of the time you got to call sunflowers to get sun energy, but these can't attack zombies. Zombies can in different styles. Some have protection like bucket as a helmet, door and armor. Their toughness depends on their aspect.

The design of the game is interesting, although very simple. The only thing you see is the garden, but before you see the zombies just outside the garden. It looks like a cartoon and it manages to get the most out of that. There is no voice acting except for some zombie noises and plants through things. Music isn't anything special, but at least it's pleasant.

You rarely encounter a great deal as this one. Plants vs. Zombies offers a lot of fun, addictive gameplay, a very gentle learning curve and beautiful visuals. There aren't many like this, so it's worth time. For 10 bucks or so, just seeking for a great PC game, look out for this.
